Hi everyone,
I recently made a full (reproduction) set of labels for the Simplex 4002 in design software. The labels on mine had gotten quite yellowed and beat up after 30+ years in service.
The label kit contains (I believe) every possible label for all modules made for the panel. This includes:
- CPU Module
- Support for both Classic (no alarm silenced LED) and Enhanced CPU boards
- Trouble Indicators
- ESP Editor & Control
- All zones (1-32, in 4-zone increments)
- All zone disconnects (1-32, in 4-zone increments)
- All signal modules (3-4, 5-6, in 2-signal increments)
- Fan control/HOA module
I have created several versions for you to download and use. This includes:
- PNG (4x upscaled), individual modules
- SVG, individual modules
- PDF, entire label kit
- SVG, entire label kit
- PDF, all labels (designed for printing on standard 8.5x11 paper)
This is all contained in a single zip file. See download link below. All are named and organized according to their use.
All of these labels, with the exception of the HOA (fan control card) have been tested on real hardware (plastic covers and in my panel), and should work great. I have attached a couple images as well.
Version 1.1 Update
Fixed Defects:
- Some printers would not respond properly when printing the individual PDFs on 8.5x11 paper. Forced all PDFs to the correct size. Tested and this issue has been resolved.

Thank you for doing things like this for the community! Although I don’t own a panel, I know those who do (or will in the future) will greatly appreciate this.
Ditto what aerhardt said (probably would have said so myself, but I just didn’t know how to put it into words). They should also prove useful for making custom labels (in case you want to name each zone specifically while still using the original font, though even if you don’t want to use the latter you can still use the location of the default lettering as a guide for where to put the new text).
Thank you for sharing this These labels are really helpful, especially since old Simplex 4002 labels get yellow and worn. I like that you made them in PNG SVG and PDF it makes it easy to print or use on the computer. When you tried them on real panels, were some labels easier to see than others? Do you plan to make labels for other Simplex panels too?

Howdy,
I mostly created this label kit so that all of the labels inside of my 4002 would be consistent with each other. It does improve the legibility of some of the labels in my experience, a couple of the ones on my panel were quite worn out when I received it.
As for other panels, I can pretty easily create most other things. I have a couple label templates for the 4100ES and will continue to make more (especially for the 4100+ and 4020) as I work on completing those projects.
