According to the spec sheet for the Firelite SD-365s…
The sensor’s LEDs can operate in three ways—on, off, and blinking–and they can be set to red, green, or amber. This is controlled by the panel.
I’ve quite honestly never seen the led color set to anything other than red in any building I’ve been in. Is it even possible to change the color on Firelite panels? If not, then why would this be in the manual? Firelite SD-365s are only compatible with Firelite systems. Unless, they just forgot to take that part out if they used the same template from the Notifier version or something.
It’s possible that they used the same template. After all Notifier and Fire-lite are both Honeywell.
Edit: they can technically run on Notifier panels although its not listed and isn’t legal in a commercial setting.
I thought that they put some evil code in there to make it unable to use mixed devices. I wonder though if you could somehow access the EEPROM chip or whatever stores the device’s firmware, and change the manufacturer. It used to be that you could do that from what I heard, but newer panel firmware doesn’t let you mix devices. Although I don’t know for sure, since I don’t have a system to test it on.
That is where I am getting this from, he said that the system in his home isn’t able to have mixed devices. he also mentioned that if he updated the firmware for his fire lite panel, it could make it so he couldn’t use those devices on his system anymore.
Mmm… No, it doesn’t say that anywhere on the box or in the included documentation. I’ve come to the conclusion that all SD-365-like devices (even notifier) are capable of displaying all three LED colors, but depending upon the protocol their shipped with, they utilize whatever colors the protocol displays.
