Okay. I have just discovered something shocking. https://youtube.com/shorts/Aksq6q0lE2U?si=NjM7TjcdFjC1LWGb
I was trying to troubleshoot my Autocall MiniLarm Panel because it kept getting a Circuit Trouble on Zone 1. So I Wired up my Federal Signal 450D and my Simplex Smart Sync TrueAlert for my experiment. I was expecting the only the Strobe to flash on the TrueAlert because on Smart Sync Units if you apply and disconnect power from the Alarm the Strobe Will flash. But instead of the Strobe Flashing, I got the HORN TO SOUND!!!
I’ve never seen anyone set off a Smart Sync TrueAlerts Horn without Smart Sync!!!
I think the FWR is messing with the TrueAlert. They aren’t rated for that. I know that, when they are on audible silence, SmartSync TrueAlerts make that sound when they loose power. I experienced that first hand at my middle school, where they had SmartSync TrueAlert horn/strobes outside. When the alarm was set off the sounded in continuous, then they went into audible silence when the panel was silenced, and then they flashed once and occasionally chirped the horn when the system was done resetting and the power was cut.
The Panel is outputting DC Power. It’s Just the DC Component is going bad so the Alarms are receiving DC Power with a tad bit of FWR. It originally outputted pure 24VDC.
