Siemens BC-35

Recently replaced several detectors and installed a new CP-35 along with new batteries. After 4 days of system being powered up and running (batteries in place and panel in normal state) removed AC power for 24 hours. Ran audible test on battery for 5 minutes all worked great. Reapplied AC power and system trouble indicator remained on as well as yellow light on BC-35. Tech support says light will go off after batteries come back to full charge but 8 hours later light remained on. Can anyone tell me how long this recharge process should take before system returns to normal state?

Code allows up to 48 hours for full recharge, and the BC-35 can take up to that long to charge up to 25AH batteries. (Anything larger than that and you need a BE-35).

They recharge slow as to not damage the batteries.

Thanks Chris, I am approaching the 48 hour mark but no change in the system as of yet. Voltage readings are coming up so hopefully soon.

Just let us know what happens

Will do!

Well after a full 5 days the BC-35 light is still on as well as a general system trouble. I will try replacing batteries first and then go to the BC-35 and see what happens.

What AH are the batteries? Are they sufficient size for the system?

And its a new CP-35(With a BC-35)?

Non rechargeable batteries maybe?

I think they would catch fire/destroy the panel is that was the case…

He f’ed up the panel or batteries? That is all I can thing of besides non rechargeable batteries.

Maybe we should leave the discussion in this thread to the pro’s or people more familiar with the technical aspects of alarm systems.

I’ll ask my dad more about it, he would know best.

  • Do you have about 24 volts on the charger wires, without the batteries installed? If there is no voltage, the charging circuit is not functional.
  • Have you tried another pair of batteries? It’s possible you got a bad pair. Take voltage readings of each battery has well.
  • Just to be clear, you did wire the batteries in series and used two 12 volt batteries, right?

Dang It Andrew xD I was gonna post some of those suggestions… xD lol

The BC-35 will turn off if the batteries are disconnected or the voltage is too low.
