I don’t know what key to use. Some people sre saying cat 45 key but when I got that it didnt fit in my siga-278 lock. Chatgpt said its likely a cat 30 but I am not sure.
Cat 45 is the typical key for Edwards/EST, however (If I remember correctly) NYC requires Cat 30 (Simplex) for all brands, which could be why ChatGPT thinks that?
In any case, it’s not impossible that the lock itself was changed. I’ve also had some keys that vary just slightly where they work with most, but not all locks. If you know someone with a second Cat 45, try that one and see if the result is different.
You want a CAT45 key for a typical EST/Edwards device. A CAT30 (aka a Simplex B-key) will work for Simplex, Autocall (2017-current), and Mircom systems.
I personally wouldn’t trust Chat GPT for information on fire alarm systems yet.
Yeah according to a key database I maintain CAT 45 is the Edwards/EST key (unless in this case the station’s lock was replaced like Zach said).
all est pulls with a key lock use a cat 45 key unless the lock has been modified
