I think I’ll start posting here again. Some may remember I was quite active on this forum circa 2005, when it was part of the Schumin Web. So here’s my question: in my travels through California and Oregon this summer, I saw Silent Knight systems almost everywhere, except in larger scale Simplex or Siemens systems. In the past, living in Arizona, Fire-Lite and Notifier have seemed to be the ubiquitous names. I know they’re all brands under Honeywell, but has anyone else observed this or have any explanation for why this may be?
You can buy silent knights over the counter and they make great dialars, so they’re perfect for small sprinkler supervisory systems with a strobe or two and a pull station.
It all depends on the lowest bidder. If an installer that only installs SK systems gets the lowest bid, then everything will be SK. The same goes for Fire-Lite and Notifier. Case in point: an installer here in San Antonio only installs Gamewell-FCI and Siemens systems. If they get the lowest bid on a system (say a school) then the school will either have a Siemens or Gamewell-FCI system.
