Simplex 4005 Programming Confusion

Alright, so my 4005 is all ready to go as far as hardware. New CPU, new power distribution board, a new 4 point IDC card, and a new 4 point NAC/Relay card. I’m having problems with the NAC card.

No matter what I do, I can’t get the four output troubles to clear on the card. I have the first circuit on the card set as a signal circuit, on until silence, and my second circuit I have set as a visual circuit, on until reset. Both relays are plugged into the correct pins on the card. I have the correct 6.8k ohm, 1/2 watt resistor on my strobe on circuit 2, and I’m still getting a trouble. It wasn’t flashing, either, when I activated the panel.

My 3rd and 4th circuits I’d like to be alarm relay circuits, like for a test station LED, but I have no idea how to program those for that. When I go to my relay points, it just says that no relay points exist, but I don’t know how to add them. Is there also a way I can just turn the two circuits off altogether? Either alarm relay or disabled altogether, either of those would be fine with me.

Can someone provide me with insight on how to program it correctly? This panel is harder to program than the other ones I’ve owned in the past, and it really is a pain in the butt.

Thanks in advance.

Scroll through the troubles until you get to one of the NACs. Push the right arrow key to get the details on the card. Report what it says.

The correct EOLR for NACs is 10K, not 6.8K. However, I put a 6.6K on one of mine and it is still normal. Later boards could be more sensitive. Or you could have a device connected backwards. What is the voltage across the NAC in normal standby condition?

The points set as relay have to be programmed as such.
Scroll to programming.
Scroll to edit card. Enter.
Scroll to Edit I/O card devices. Enter.
Scroll to NAC/Relay card.
Press .
Use arrow keys to change desired circuits to AUX.

All this is in the programming instructions.

Yes, of course. I made a mistake while I was typing; I meant 10k ohm. 6.8k is for zones.

It’s actually working now. I reversed the polarity on the strobe, and it flashes now. Trouble for circuit 2 is gone, as well.

I must have made some change in the programming, because when I reversed the polarity before, it still wasn’t giving me anything.

And thanks, I didn’t know you had to go to card edit to change over to relay operation.
