Looks like a nice panel. Should do well in the marketplace. The programmable EOLR values for NAC and IDC makes retrofit of older Simplex and brand-X panels a lot easier.
I like the FUI style display. IN COLOR!
One difference between the 4007ES and the 4010ES is that there is no 4120 network interface listed for the 4007ES. The 4010 original and ES can be added to a 4120 network.
Seems like Gamewell-FCI has itself a contender. I haven’t seen either of these panels in person, but I’d certainly like to.
I wonder if the suggestions we gave Mr. Carlson concerning typeface were considered…
So does that mean we’ll be seeing E3s with touch screen displays?
I mean, I always figured the S3 was basically a 7100 with faster SLC and a touch screen.
If I remember right they are supposed to also have another version of this panel that is all addressable, including the TrueAlertES line as well. Perhaps that version will have 4120 connectivity. I was expecting to see retrofit kits for 4002 and 4005 panels. On the whole I think it is a cool panel, but I were the one designing it I would have made the touchscreen bigger (not Incident Commander size, but like iPad size) with the ability to graphically annunciate a map of the building with device locations. It wouldn’t be hard since there is a flash drive built in anyway. I believe Gamewell has something like this on the E3 panels as an option. I also like the programmable buttons that that 4100ES and the 4010ES have and think that 4007 should also have those as well. I wish Notifier would build those into their Onyx panels without having to install the ACS modules.
Some of those additional features may become available in the future. This would make an excellent replacement for the 4002 and 4005. A retrofit kit makes that a lot easier. Someone in the company will suggest that eventually. Marketing will do a cost/sales analysis on that. That is what they did when I suggested the 4100 retrofit kit for 2001 and 2120 boxes.
The programmable buttons are in the panel now as this picture from the data sheet shows. They are next to the 3 programmable LEDs.
I found a press release that says the 4007ES is going to be 2 panels, the hybrid model and a fully addressable model. The hybrid is released now. The fully addressable might be delayed by UL approval or getting production up to speed. The addressable does include the TrueAlertES addressable NAC.
Part of press release:
The Simplex 4007ES comes in two distinct models and with a 4.3-inch color touchscreen display, enabling buildings owners, facility managers, architects and engineers to meet the range of fire and life-safety protection needs in small schools, medical office buildings, strip malls, restaurants and other similarly sized applications.
Simplex 4007ES Addressable Panel: This panel brings the benefits of TrueInsight remote fire alarm system diagnostics and TrueAlert ES addressable notification to new construction projects. TrueInsight Remote Service alerts expert Tyco SimplexGrinnell technicians to system issues and upcoming maintenance needs, such as detectors that will soon need cleaning. For TrueInsight customers, Tyco SimplexGrinnell provides increased uptime, fewer disruptions and a 90% first-time fix rate for resolving system issues. TrueAlert ES notification, the family of addressable notification appliances from Tyco SimplexGrinnell, offers exceptional design and installation flexibility, revolutionary self-testing capability, and lower overall costs of ownership.
Simplex 4007ES Hybrid Panel: Combining conventional and addressable technology, this model is ideal for upgrades and retrofit projects. It enables customers to connect a Simplex 4007ES panel to a conventional, hard-wired fire alarm system. This 4007ES hybrid panel can leverage existing wiring infrastructure and peripheral devices while also providing an easy, cost-effective path to ultimately convert the system to addressable technology.
It has been released for some time now, since before Christmas. I’m surprised no one has said anything about it, but it is now on their products page. One thing I have distinctively noticed is that there are no compatible LCD annunciators for it. It does allow for LED annunciation using the old RCU/SCU (basically the old 4002 LED/keyswitch annunciators, though those type can be used on almost any simplex panel) At least not yet anyway; I’m sure one is in the works, or the 4010ES one will eventually listed to be compatible with the 4007.
Interesting how the 4007ES comes as a hybrid panel. I know with the bigger addressable Simplex systems like the 4100 series, they used to come in conventional and addressable models, I’ve seen quite a few 4100-series systems that use a mix of conventional and addressable devices (mostly at Bridgewater State University.) Though I guess with the 4007ES it’s so you can do so without needing to get zone adapter modules…
