Here is what I would like to do. My Simplex 4010 has 4 separate, programmable NAC’s. I have NAC 1 set to audible signal and NAC 2 for visual signal. I have a carbon monoxide detector that I am going to hook into a IAM. I would like to have NAC 3 activate when the CO detector activates. I would also like it to create a supervisory event when activated. I would have my Wheelock MT hooked into NAC 3. Is this possible? I have looked though the manual and the panel’s options. I cannot seem to find how to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
That is absolutely possible to do. The 4010 is a quite flexible panel.
Is the manual you have the Front Panel Installing, Operating and Programming Instructions 574-052?
Here is the short version of what you have to do.
Edit the point with your CO detector IAM to point type SUPV (generic supervisory).
Edit NAC 3 point to point type SIGNAL (generic signal no default operation).
Add the custom labels for the points.
Write SMPL that turns on NAC 3 when the IAM is in supervisory state. Easiest is to use TRACK which will turn the NAC on when the supervisory state occurs and off when the supervisory state clears.
That is the manual that I have. I’m going to try that when I get the IAM. I’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks you!
BTW, I still use the acronym SMPL (Simplex Multifunction Programming Language) which was originally designed for the 2120 and is still used today. In the programming manual it is called Custom Control.
I just went and checked everything. I can’t do anything until I get the IAM. But it doesn’t look too difficult. Thanks again!
I neglected to ask if your CO detector is self clearing or needs resettable power?
The 4010 does not have resettable power available. Since it is an addressable panel it is assumed that 4-wire devices would be connected to a monitor ZAM which has resettable power available.
There is a work around to use a AUX relay - and more SMPL.
I think it is self clearing. It’s a system sensor CO1224T.
