Simplex/Autocall 4017ES

Aside from all the arguing, I’ll offer some thoughts on the 4017ES.

This panel fills a market segment that Simplex/Autocall didn’t cover: small/midsize, with built-in voice evacuation.

Speaking of voice… the main panel microphone is somewhat unusual as it’s hands-free instead of the usual handheld microphone which the remote microphone unit still has.

So you just push the button and talk into the panel? I prefer the remote mic design

Yeah, same here, especially given the “classicness” of doing so (plus the fact that it still technically works obviously: if it isn’t broke don’t fix it as they say).

Yeah. A hands-free microphone would probably pick up more background noise too. Also, people might not know how to use it.

installing remote microphones(in facp or remote cabinet) is kind of a pain, any reduction in wiring work is appreciated haha. Looking forward to work with those.

I could see the main public library in my city using that to replace their Simplex 4010 Classic with 4003 voice panel, installed in 2002 when the library was renovated and added onto. (At the time that was your only real option for a small or mid-sized addressable voice-evac fire alarm system from Simplex.) In the main entrance vestibule, I could see the 4606-9101 LCD annunciator and the remote emergency microphone underneath get replaced with the newer equivalents.

I’m not sure if this is new information but I found this brochure (Edit: Simplex removed the document)

Here are the datasheets for the Simplex 4017ES.

→ IDNAC Version: S4017-WIDNAC.pdf (1.4 MB)
→ Standard (conventional) NAC Version: S4017-WNAC.pdf (1.4 MB)

Additional sister-panel to the 4017ES, designed to be used alongside it, the 4009 Extender Plus.

A 4017ES? is there a 4016ES? That sounds weird.

There was a 4016, that was a rebranded Mircom panel in Canada. Super rare too. I’d imagine 4017 is because it’s just a 4007 that has added voice functionality, but nothing to to scale of the 4100s.

Ahh. Okay! That sounded so weird! You could make a video on it. I would love that! Seeing your videos help me have a better understanding of panels.

I would make a video if I could get my hands on one lol. Those are extraordinarily rare.

The 4016 was a rebranded Mircom System 100 I believe. And even the original Mircom branded ones are nearly extinct these days so good luck getting your hands on one.

Here’s a picture of one. It’s from an older thread

That looks so much like the 4004 though?

It actually does resemble the 4004, but the 4016 appears to be narrower.
