Simplex IDNet Channel Failure

I have a Simplex panel that for some reason can’t clear a Card 16, IDNet channel failure. I’ve looked at all cards on the system and can’t seem to find a card addressed to 16. Any ideas?

Is that a 4100?? LOL - I hate those things. Card 16 exists on the system, for sure. I had all sorts of trouble figuring out the dip switches and settings trying to find a problem with a 4 way isolator module. Found it, replaced the card and everything is right in 4100 land, for the moment.

If you replace the IDnet card, do you have to program it? I typically call simplex to send a tech handle that stuff.

Yes it is a 4100 lol. The thing is we service the system but we can’t do anything that involves programming because we are not simplex certified. We had over 30 troubles on here and got it down to that single trouble. Is the only way clearing getting a simplex tech out here???

I did the same thing a few years ago … cleared several troubles and had the nagging 4 way isolator problem left intermittently. I could clear it by hard power reset. I hired simplex to replace the 4 way. I tend to let them take the liability risk with the panel components. I told the client that’s how it was going to be and they agreed and they pay for it. I can’t afford to replace a 4100 if something goes wrong.

I don’t know of any system that the addressable loop card can be replaced without programming the system. I do not know if that would be required of a Simplex panel or not.

Yeah I figured at this point we aren’t going to keep messing with it. This thing had over 30 troubles and we got it down to this last one. I figured they have to come out and do something simple to clear it. I’ll keep you posted with what the issue as soon as someone goes out there.

I don’t have the authority to do anything in regards to programming I just service the system. But I don’t even know how to get into programming in these panels. We definitely tried powering everything down though and we also did the warm reset and still nothing. Seems like something is up with the program like you said being glitched. So you’re saying we just might have to enter programming and get out??

I don’t think being in programming will help you, I just gave my example when I encountered the IDNet channel failure. If powering down and restarting it didn’t clear it nor did the warm start then I’d advise to get a Simplex tech out to take a look at it as they would be able to narrow down if it’s a bad card. The error means the addressable loop isn’t functioning which is a major issue and will require a Simplex tech to diagnose and repair the fault.

Yeah which is what we’re going to end up doing as we replaced the 4100-5111 power supply and addressed it with the dip switches to match the old one and it’s the only card that has led 5 on steady.
