I was just going over the Simplex t-bar-type pull stations I have & noticed that, while most of them have locks that turn to the left, I have at least two that turn to the right: the former are all of the 4251-series t-bars & most of the 2099-series & 4099-series t-bars I have, while the latter are a 2099-9754 & a 4099-9001, both of which have the 1993-2010 Simplex logo (the other 2099-series & 4099-series t-bars I have have either the 1976-1993 logo or the 1993-2010 logo). Did Simplex change the direction their t-bars’ locks turn at some point? (or are the locks on some of my t-bars just upside-down, heh) I should also note that the other 2099-9754 I have has its lock turn to the left.
I actually never noticed nor did I know about this. Maybe it’s a generational thing, but us enthusiasts have never really payed any attention to such details, I don’t think so anyway.
I’m not sure I did either at first, but considering all but two of the t-bars I have turn to the left instead of the right, I thought I’d bring this “discrepancy” up with the rest of the community & see what they think/have to say about the matter.
My 4251 style 2099’s have locks that turn to the left.
When i saw the subject im like, well older and newer, but if you got them from a building, locks got changed to a newer lock??
Well, likely most of them came from buildings, but I wouldn’t know which did for sure. The difference in lock turn direction might be from a change Simplex did at one point however, which is what I’m trying to determine.
Yeah, heh, dont know why thhey decided to change to the right.
Well as I’ve said, I’m not certain that it’s actually because Simplex changed it: for all I know it could just be that the locks on some of my t-bars are upside-down, especially since most of them turn to the left instead.
Ahh gotcha, I dont reallly follow these things, (as i semi retired couplee months back), i can see where your coming from
You did? Had no idea. Why might I ask?
Sorta lost interest, school kept me busy. I’ll be mmore active around the summer.
Ah alright. This forum (& the community behind it too of course) will still be here, heh (or at least it hopefully should be, heh).
Too sad I won’t be able to have you in my Unboxing Salvaged Fire Alarm Parts video. I have a lot of guests finna be in that video.
