I know that smoke detectors must be more than 6 inches from a doorway inside a bedroom but is there any rule on how far away it can be like 2 feet, 3 feet, etc… thanks.
No there isn’t, stick it anywhere.
Center of room or between the bed and the door is probably the best. Most people put them near the door just to run less wire.

Try to keep the detector away from any HVAC vents and away from a ceiling fan if one is installed.
Thanks. I kept them 3 feet from the fan blades and the central air vent.
