Smoking

UPDATE
I got a friend to quit smoking! I am glad I did. It feels good to know you helped others

Great, I got my parents to quit smokeing 5-6 months ago

Good job! I got my dad to stop. Whenever I found a pack, I would take them and flush then down the toilet.

My grandfather stopped smoking for several months before he finally was able to sneak a cigarette in.

What do you mean by this?

Sounds to me like someone who attempted to quit but cracked under the ā€œpressureā€ of the withdrawal symptoms associated with quitting smoking.

Oh…

Pretty much. Doesn’t help that he knows that most of the people that live in the house go outside to smoke also.

I got to get my brother to quit. He just turned 18 last month so he can buy cigarettes whenever he wants. A few weeks ago was his high school graduation party, and he was smoking there, he refused our parents request not to smoke, saying he’s 18 and he will do what he wants. I smoked when I graduated but I didn’t smoke at my party or in front of family. The whole family was shocked to see him smoking, no one in the family smokes, but several are former smokers. He spent almost the whole time with his girlfriend who also smokes. Although he did spend some time playing in the yard with the little kids that were there, he lit up a cigarette right in front of them! After the party my parents yelled at him severely, and I think he felt bad. He did say that he will quit when his girlfriend does.

That’s just not acceptable. He should quit now, not of his girlfriends accord!! What if she never stops? Then what?

I would never date a smoker since I know that kissing one would be like eating an ashtray.

True… Though I think I somewhat fully recovered from my smoking. My girlfriend knows that I smoked, but does not say anything.

My girlfriend’s 18 year old brother smokes too, he visited with us today and he smoked a cigarette. I never knew he smoked, he said he does it just for looks, he always carries a pack with him to show off and occasionally smokes one. He said he’s not going to be addicted but I know he would be. He’s starting college next week, with the pressure of school and the sports he is playing in college I know he will be addicted very quickly. Just like everyone they don’t think they will be addicted but they would be.
These kids think smoking is cool but after a year of smoking they all say its horrible and hard to quit. Most of these kids that smoke are nice kids, I hate to see them start such a bad habit.

I only found out a few years ago that my aunt’s step-grandson also smokes but then again I havem’t seen him in a while so that would be why.

My Dad and my aunts and uncles used to be heavy smokers but they quit for the most part.

I am happy this topic kept going! Anyways, my grandpa had cancer from smoking. He made it, but it scared me.

I seen my brother when he came back from college for Thanksgiving. Everyone was sad to see he was still smoking. He went outside probably 10 times for a cigarette that day. He felt bad when our 10 year old cousin wouldn’t sit next to him because he stunk from cigarette smoke. Now he’s saying he will quit after college, but I know it will be harder then.

I have a confession to make. I never smoked. It was a test. Sorry but I just wanted to see the results. I however am very proud of all of the quitters. Sorry for the lie. But good job! It was kind of like one of those undercover things to test, but you helped me for a project in school! Thank you.

DONE!!!
