Smoking

I tried once when I was 5… vomiting, coughing, and sore throats. NEVER AGAIN.

There is an old fashioned way of parent forcing their kids to smoke SEVERAL packs, so they will never want to go close to them again. Of course, they only do this if they’ve caught the kid smoking. It seems like it is more effective than grounding and such.

I did it because you know how really young kids are :stuck_out_tongue: really curious to try new things. And I thought it would feel good since alot of my family members did it. I truly regret it, and I told them about it and since I come from a mexican family the don’t use grounding or stuff. They use “La Chancla” some scary stuff, man.

What is “La Chanca”? Is that the brand of cigarettes?

La Chancla is a mexican method of disciplining kids. They get a sandle and hit you with it. It’s not fun, at all.

It doesn’t sound like fun

Do they use a belt, or just a shoe? My parent used to use a belt when I was very young kid, then they switched to grounding, which is less effective.

Mexican parents are so strict, they hit me with a sandle and sometimes a belt. And they only used the belt when i was acting really bad, and they ussually hit numerous times. But trust me, La Chancla is not fun AT ALL.

If they were doing it out of anger, that is not very good discipline for you, at least from what I have heard. They should just do it a couple of times to get the point across, not to relieve anger.

I don’t believe in corporal punishment myself.

corporal punishment?

Punishing by hitting.

Oh thank you to me hitting a child is not going to teach them a lesson

Well… you need to be mexican to understand, if you get mexican parents mad, they will be very unhappy. I had to learn the hard way sadly, and I doubt they ever do it out of anger. My parents might seem rude and mean by what I’m saying but they’re just disciplining, ya know? And I know and we all know our parents love us.

Yes, I understand.

If I ever have children, I will never discipline by hitting them.

Why are we talking about beating children up?..

LOL

I agree…
Off top

I’ll put it to you this way… I had a pack of cigarettes from the beginning of December through April. I smoked 4 cigarettes. And when I say I smoked them, I mean most of it burnt away. I don’t really like the way they taste and some of the brands are way too expensive.

When I smoked at first I hated the taste, I just puffed on it enough to keep it going and I didn’t inhale much. Even though I didn’t inhale much the taste stays in my mouth the next day. I smoked just for the looks. Then after a while I inhaled more. As I mentioned when I played baseball in high school and college I smoked quite a bit before and after a game, then I realized I was addicted, at that time I actually liked the taste. Most kids that smoke don’t realize they will get addicted, but the usually do. Someone said that high school athletes smoke more than other kids, I don’t think that is true (actually I think less of them smoke) , but the athletes that do smoke tend to smoke a lot more, possibly due to the pressure so its easier to get addicted. That’s what I think based on me and my friends.
When I was under 18 the brand wasn’t that big of a deal, I smoked what I could get since it was hard for us to buy cigarettes. Then when I turned 18 and could buy cigarettes I had a brand I preferred, it was an expensive brand but I always bought that brand since it was the coolest brand, not so much for the taste. I’m in my early 20’s now and I haven’t had a cigarette in over a year, I’m glad I was able to quit.
