I am working on a price for. 40 story retrofit , currently has wheelock E70 series speakers and speaker strobes , biggest issue is 7 story parking deck with flush mount 1900 boxes and hard to get a good seal .
So I am to replace all 480 devices and can choose wheelock or system sensor.
Any comments would be helpful. Cost not a factor
Are the existing strobes ADA compliant? And are the existing signals compatible with the new system. If so, keep the existing signals and tie them into the new system. Get a sync module to ensure all the strobes are synced.
i’d stick with wheelock but it’s purely a personal preference, i like the power supplies better (8 ckt option) and the devices look better in my opinion. any reason to scrap the e70’s? you could probably salvage the speakers at a minimum regardless of the route you take.
The parking garage devices are showing corrosion , the building sits on the river.
The customer wants all new core building SS and strobes , the boxes are tight so I thought the E50 series to give me alittle more room or system sensor . I will use fcps8 for power supplies just for ease of back boxes same size.
I was thinking the E70WP because the devices are somewhat outdoors.
Only problem with the E70WP’s is the high current draw. If you don’t need 135cd strobes, you might run into other issues, in which case the weatherproof 15/30/75/110 system sensor devices would be a better option.
They all use custom back boxes though, so I doubt that helps much. If the customer is fine with a surface mount weatherproof boxes on top of a 1900, that might be the way to go.
