STR era Simplex systems found in Texas

There is a lot of fire alarm enthusiasts (and a few technicians) from the fire alarm community that lives somewhere in Texas.Texas may not have the best systems out there (Houston has crappy systems), but there are some rare and cool systems (mainly Simplex STR era systems) in Central and South Texas. You can find them in San Antonio, Austin, Houston (barely), Laredo, Brownsville, Lufkin, Nachogdoches, and Beaumont. I have been living in Texas my whole life. I am born in San Antonio TX and moved to Houston TX in 2016. When I was little, I used to find Simplex systems over there at said birthplace. Including systems like the Simplex 2001 (some with march time cards), 4100, 4207/8, 4246/7,etc. There are a lot of Simplex 2903s and any types of 4903s over Central and South Texas (mainly in San Antonio and Austin). AC systems are very hard to find but I know about 2/3 of them as of now. Also I was told by a fellow Texas FA enthusiast there used to be a system with Simplex 2903-9050s (AC light plates) in Brownsville. A 4246 in Palestine High School, and I heard AC 4050-83s going off on a 4208 system at a church in San Antonio (system has been defunct since 2013). Simplex is pretty common over in Texas while Faraday/Cerberus Pyrotronics is common over there too (any Faraday N/As from the 80s and 90s). Edwards is kinda common (with Adaptahorns and 892 series), but not as much as said companies. Most common old systems youā€™ll see in Texas is Firelite and ADT systems with alarms such as the Wheelock 7002Ts, Gentex SHG/GMS, Wheelock MT, AS, System Sensor Spectralerts and MASS series (any type) N/As.

Texas is very underrated for fire alarm system hunting

The only thing I know about Texas is:
Lots of P-50s
Hot as hell
Somehow has one of the worldā€™s biggest furcon
BBQ

they have a crap ton of them in NE Ohio

I honestly had no idea that collecting or ā€œfire alarm huntingā€ was even a thing! Itā€™s frightening how many old systems Iā€™ve seen that got thrown in a dumpster after an upgradeā€¦

Another thing about Texas is that they got a lot of simplex 2903s and 2001 panels still in service
