System Sensor 2400 Smoke Detector

I’m wondering If I could use this almost like a pull station where it’s just a switch. Is this addressable? I believe this is a 4 wire smoke right?

No, no, and no.
It’s a 2 wire conventional smoke. The 4 wire versions are the 2424 (24v) & 2412 (12v).
It also cannot be used as a switch. There are many great videos explaining how two-wires work on YouTube and such.

I don’t think so. Says on the SD box in the first listing that it is a 2-wire smoke detector. No, it is not like a switch.

Yah I didn’t look at it that closely. :S OK I’ll look on YouTube and see how these work. I wasn’t planing on buying it, It was just a thing that popped up as a recommended search term and I was curious. Thank you for your help.

Those were some obnoxiously large and ugly smokes.

I still that style all the time too… ugh.

I call these things, and their “father”, the 2800 series, “Ceiling Wart” detectors because of how HUGE they are. I also call their ionization counterpart “Doorknob” detectors because they look like a doorknob.

It is possible to wire a 24V relay in series to one of those detectors to use it as 4 wire but this is not recommended as it may damage the detector and this also violates fire codes as you’d be using it in a way it was not intended to be used. If this is just a hobby/demonstration system then it’s not so bad but if this is for a life safety system then don’t do it.

Don’t worry it’s just a hobby system on plywood.
