Does the system sensor MDL work on non spectra alert products, For example wheelock strobes?
Don’t quote me on this. But I do remember NewEnglandElevators using a MDL for coding a Simplex 2903+2901-9833 in temporal.
Don’t do anything till someone such as Andrew or a Fire Alarm Technician Responds.
Edit:
Here is the video
Sorry For Bump but I realized he goes on talking so here is a link that skips to it sounding.
As ccs46 said, it is possible to code non-spectralert horns to do Temporal/Code 3. However, you cannot sync devices other than those in the Spectralert series that are compatible with the module.
More on the Code-3 output. Place a jumper over the temporal pins on the board and wire the devices as the wiring diagram shown below dictates. Complete manual: System Sensor | Honeywell Building Technologies
I meant for the strobes not the horns
If you were to hook a non-Spectralert strobe up to the MDL, it wouldn’t sync properly. I’m sure Andrew can explain it better but the protocols used in syncing differ between manufactures. It all has to do with the pulses the strobe receives from the module, and each module pulses differently.
Then the answer is no. The sync output from the MDL would not be recognized by other manufacturers. If you are looking to sync specifically Wheelock strobes, check out their SM (not entirely sure if this is still manufactured) and DSM sync modules. These work with nearly all of their modern (AS, NS, LSM, Exceder, etc.) strobe and horn/strobe appliances.
The MDL has a jumper on it to select between system sensor sync and temporal code 3.
That’s what he was talking about.
The gentex ZMS4 and AVS44 sync modules have this feature too, btw
That was what I first mentioned and provided information about, but the OP wanted strobe synchronization, not the temporal output option.
