They have now run wire thru the empty boxes in these backrooms. Also found a NAC booster in a closet.
They have also installed more backboxes and are planning on installing more wire and backboxes in the rest of the backrooms.

Neat I guess. What’s the story with the old devices though?
Apparently they’ve been falsing for some reason. This is very recently in fact. They’ve had people to come check it out and they said the system was fine. But it kept falsing.
Now they’re just upgrading the entire system and I’m getting the old stuff.
I mainly meant whether you’d be able to successfully preserve them or not. Glad to hear that you will be though.
Yeah CES told me I could have whatever so I pretty much get everything when they successfully test the new system. I am also possibly looking to participate in the system test and record it. All in all I’m happy that I am saving stuff especially with the MT-24-WMs being rare.
To keep the thread going…
New NAs are now being installed!
A frame-by-frame shows the live installation of a devicical:
Random ahh stuff laying around:
More of the soon-to-be-defunct/TAFATP property old system.
Neat.
“Country of Origin: China” Even Siemens, a German company, has fallen for that trend huh? (since typically the US has been the country that outsources all production to China) Might be reflected by the way the plastic on those Acend-series devices is as well (mainly in how bright but also matte the color is).
Still on track to save all the old devices when they’re removed?
Just about any company has fallen for that trend.
Duh! I’ve been for awhile now.
It would seem so, yes.
Oh, alright, just wanted to make sure.
I would never turn down a great opportunity like this one. We definitely need more people like me who are willing and able to get older devicicals from system replacements. And I never thought I’d see the day that I’d be documenting bit-by-bit the replacement of an entire fire alarm system.
As guidance for us who would like to try to do similar things in the future, how did you do it?
Why do you say “devicicals?”
You figure out what is happening when it is happening and then you make plans with the people who are doing the replacement and removal. They are finna box the old stuff up for me.
Probably just personal slang, but we’ll see what Random has to answer with in regards to that
It’s actually smoke alarm community slang. Also the discussion of my saying “devicicals” isn’t related to this documentation topic, I mean are we also finna document why I say “devicicals?”
It might not be related to this topic, but I might as well say that I’m personally annoyed by such “slang” now that someone finally brought it up.
If you’re annoyed by it you could always ignore it. Just saying.
I have been, but eventually I get to the point where I feel that enough is enough & that I have to say something about it.
Week of 12/08-10/2025:
Pulls installed, smokes being installed… system expected to be done in a week or two.
That remote strobe is pretty cool. I do believe it’s the first one I’ve ever seen installed anywhere. I like how it looks.
They’re also likely going to be ending up installing STI Stoppers over those pull stations at some point after they find out just how prone to false alarms those are. I know my school had multiple false alarms from people accidentally bumping into them while walking by, and they solved the problem by installing the Stoppers. I don’t think the dual action ones are any better. It is pretty cool that they all had isolators built in, though.
