TAFATP NEWS: Progress on the old WSCC Expo Centre (White Pine, TN) Fire Alarm System Replacement

The alarms at the Walters State Community College Expo Centre in White Pine, TN are currently being redone, and the old system is going to be ‘deleted’ from the building after the new alarm system installation job is finished. I am currently working with Walters State Community College maintenance services to save the old alarm system as of now, and I plan on visiting the Expo Centre today to see and document the progress of the new installation.

The old alarm system is a Fire-Lite system (iirc) with BNG-1 as initiating devices.

The notification appliances are Wheelock MT-24-WM (along with a single MT-24-LSM device in an entrance area.

(MT horn in a bathroom :skull:)

Updates will be posted here as conditions warrant.

This is great news! I unfortunately was not able to save the alarms from my town’s old high school, as they kept pushing back the demolition date further and further and they just suddenly started it without my knowledge.

Just out of curiosity, what is the new system like?

I haven’t seen it yet. Although I suspect that it will be a newer Siemens voice evacuation system. The ones with the ASCEND series devices.

This is also why I’m visiting today.

Did you save them? Or did they get smashed?

It’s set in stone, they will all be mine.

Can I have a frosted mt and a bg-8 please

I’ll see what I can do…

Ok. How do I get them?

I’ll figure something out for transportation.

Okay CES is down at the Expo Centre now working on it. I will probably be checking in with them next week.

They’re finally getting it done.

An update: they’ve removed one pull station because it was in the way of them installing a backbox. Also the Seniscan is gutted.

Visited today and they are running wires. They have installed more backboxes as well. I also got to get into more rooms and found out there is another MT-24-LSM/SLM in the management area. I also took better pictures of some of the previous alarms. I estimate they will be installing notification appliances and pull stations in 2 or less weeks.
