Unknown (possibly rare) Notifire FACP

It’s at were my dad works. There is one Notifire 12 inch bell, and a several 6 inch Wheelock bells. bg-8s around the plant. Also to Sprinlermatic risers(with water bells?!?!!) On the plant/office building and a Viking riser on the wherehouse building.
Does anyone know what this panel is?

Looks old…1970s maybe? I’ve never seen a Notifier panel that old.

I’d like to see some pics of the sprinkler system, that would give me a better idea on the age.

that’s definitely a Notifier panel. This particular one was made in the 1960s until the early 1980s. It’s a neat design because it uses silver rectangular cartridges which are like an early version of cards. Neat little systems, and they’re remarkably small for a 1 to 4 zone system and were highly customizable, easy to service, etc. By the logo on the front, this particular one was made in the 1970s. The older logo is the word “Notifier” written in cursive.

I saw a notifier panel made in 1955. That’s a neat old panel.

Did notifre make any bells then? The bell I was looking at had a large N and small letter with a big Co. Bellow it

And is this rare?

First let me get something straight for you… NOTIFIER. N O T I F I E R. lol

They didn’t actually make their own bells, someone else did. I think it was Amseco who did. And yeah, you will see “N-CO” on a lot of their old products, it is how they did their model numbers. I think it means “Notifier COmmercial”.

When would bg-8 have came out?

The actual model for those pulls is BNG-1, or BRG-1 for the break glass version. BG-8 is the Fire-Lite rebrand model number.

Notifier has been making BNG-1 pull stations for a long time, but I believe the current generation came out in the mid to late 1990’s. The official data sheet is dated May 2, 1997. https://www.notifier.com/salesandsupport/documentation/Datasheets/DN_5927.pdf

Actually, these are in fact Fire Lite…

Prove it.
Because Notifier and Fire-Lite were two completely separate companies until Pittway “merged” them in 1989.

Fire-Lite’s pull stations until the merger were:
BG-5
BG-6
BG-10

Notifier had the BNG-1 pull station but they had earlier designs too-- the ones with the curved sides – but they pretty much worked the same way in the end.

… and Jared, that is the last time the data sheet was updated. The BNG-1R, BNG-1TR, BNG-1S, and BNG-1TS all came out in the very early 90s. I know this because the company I work for has installed lots of early 90s Notifier systems with those pull stations.

It says Fire Lite on it, you can see it in the pic, so I think that’s what lilrags is saying. Technically if Notifier made the design and Fire Lite rebranded it its not Fire Lite…but…I can at least see where he is coming from.

Yes, I thought Fire Lite made the and every rebranded

'97 did seem a bit recent, but it was the best guess that I had. Thanks for clearing this up.

Fire-Lite didn’t/doesn’t even make the BG-10 and BG-12. System Sensor manufactured/manufactures both of those pulls.

WHAT?!??

I know we’ve had the discussion about who manufactures the BG-10/12 series on the forum before, but I can’t seem to find it. But yes, if I remember correctly, System Sensor designed and created both of these series.

Huh…interesting

I believe the BG-10 was designed by Fire-Lite. They were around since at least 1981, before System Sensor was a company.

That would make more sense. Has anybody found the patent for the BG-10 pull station?

If you have one it should have a patent number on it you can google.

Best I can find is it was originally a firelite product from the early 80s. Rebranded by ADT, Johnson Controls, and Notifier later on.

System Sensor wasn’t a company until 1984, I think the BG-10’s came out just before that.
