Hi everyone,
I recently acquired a (literally) brand new Simplex fire alarm panel - another 4010ES! But, this one is different than the one I already had with the standard membrane keypad and 2x40 LCD screen.
This one is in a much larger 2-bay cabinet and is equipped with the FUI (InfoAlarm) Display. These units were not very popular throughout their lifestyle and as such, were not installed or seen much.
I believe that I am the first and only collector to own one of these. It came brand new in its original factory packaging and showed up on a pallet (via freight) due to its size.
The FUI display is often regarded as being a pretty low-tier product that Simplex produced, and I am inclined to agree with that. The display often has communication issues which cause the CPU board to crash and restart. It’s also just generally pretty slow. But, it’s still a pretty neat product.
