Got this rare gem from Pilot on the Forums. Federal Signal was known as Federal Sign and Signal from 1955-1975 and this Horn uses the Federal Sign and Signal Logo so I can infer this was made in between 1955-1975 making this Horn 50+ Years Old.
Awesome horn! Love the beatles thing in the background.
As I had to say on another topic, that Federal Signal logo was actually only used until 1971, as Federal Signal had a different & very short-lived logo from 1971 to 1975 (though the former is still used on their Q2B electromechanical siren), & for all we know they might have never changed the PR2’s casting molds even after 1971. That’s also a projector rather than a horn by the way.
I admiring that old Federal Sign & Signal logo.
I know it’s a Projector. I just call it both at times.
Thanks! I really like the Beatles! In fact I often play them on my Fire Alarm Speakers.
That warmed my heart.
Didn’t Ringo beat his wife
This is not the place to say such a thing: let’s keep it light-hearted & focused on the subject at hand shall we?
Ok, your right. Also my alarms just showed up
Just an update, but I was wrong about this being made by Federal Sign and Signal. This one just happens to use the FS&S Logo. Sorry about the misunderstanding.
As I said, Federal Signal might have designed the mold with their older logo, but they also might not have updated it to use their newer logo.
Thanks for the clarification.
That is correct.
While many of their products were updated to the “F” logo from 1972-1975 (Circle-F was used from the beginning to 1972 or early 1973) and later the “FS” logo they didn’t update the castings on some of their products. Now I believe the Q is the only thing they make that still has the Circle-F as the PR2 projector was redesigned.
Yeah. According to Logopedia though, the dates actually go like this:
“Circle F” logo: 1901-1971
“FCP” logo (so-called because it looks like those letters): 1971-1975
Current logo: 1975-present
Gotcha. I was basing my information on when the logos were used on the Thunderbolt tags and rotator sticker which were updated at each logo change (though were a mix between the “Circle F” and “FCP” have been found for 1972 and 1973 model year Thunderbolts)
Well there might be some usage overlap in each logo just the same.
