What Could This Have Been? (Annunciator/Indicator for FACP)

Alright, so the “main” concert hall in my city was built in the 1980’s and up until recently, had it’s original system entirely intact. The system consisted of the Simplex LifeAlarm Speakers (rebranded Atlas speakers) just located in the lobby areas. I’m assuming that the panel was tied into the auditorium’s sound system or something. There are also flush-mounted Simplex 4251-20’s. The only thing that’s actually changed in the system is the panel. Some sort of Fire-Lite panel replaced an old Simplex panel.

I remember that right next to the panel was another cabinet, and all it was inside was around 10 rows of red, flashing LED’s, with several LED’s per row. They flashed quickly, and in such a manner that all of the LED’s in one row would flash at the same time, then the same thing would happen to the row below it, and so on. There may or may not have been a sign next to this thing that said that flashing was normal and that a steady LED meant an alarm.

My question is, does anybody knows what the specific purpose of this thing was (it was obviously some sort of annunciator or indicator), and who might have made it/what it’s model number was.

Could have been anything? No photo?

I know, I’m hoping that my description was through enough, but I guess not; I’ll try to put up a sketch or something soon. And as for a photo, it’s been a long time since I last saw this setup, and like I said, that panel is gone now.

Could have done anything from fans to ventalation to doors to smokes. Any number of things, especially if they did something unique.
