I’ve came across a lot of Wheelock products that have VFR in the model number, but I can’t seem to find any differences between the VFR models and the models that don’t have “VFR” in the model number. Anybody know what it means?
From what I could analyze, I was able to find the AS with the normal horizontal strobe mounted upward, however it’s VFR model has it mounted sideways instead. Also the MT-24-LSM normally has a completely clear strobe while it’s VFR model has a partially frosted strobe.
From a speaker strobe manual
V = vertical lense
F = FIRE lettering
R = Red plate
There are also white alarms with “VFW” suffix.
There’s also some not-so-common ceiling mount ones with a “CFW” suffix. (Ceiling, Fire, White)
Thank you everyone for the help!
There’s also models that have HFR/HFW in their model numbers which specifies that the unit has a horizontal strobe. A Wheelock AS-24110-HFR 1st Generation Horn Strobe is an example. It is the older version that looks like a newer version, just having a different strobe reflector as well as a horn that can only do Continuous.
