I believe it needs to be a foot off the wall and 3 feet from supply and return air ,anyone feel free to correct me if i’m wrong on this, I see this way to often.
Sounds about right to me.
At my school, there is a Wheelock AS that is coming off the wall (backbox and everything) because students will run by and hit it, so it is just hanging by the conduit.
Oh wow. That’s definitely not good. Just like when people do this with exit signs, they should get charged for property destruction and tampering with a life safety device. If it continues to be a problem, the school should either put a cage over it, or change to a ceiling mounted device.
And the pull stations in the gym are not protected and my band teacher told me that one of them got smashed (they were bg10s) and it set off the alarm and they couldn’t reset it.
