I went to Dad’s work today and got to see the new Notifier system they installed to replace the old Cerberus Pyrotronics system I got all those devices from. Pretty nice system. System Sensor SpectrAlert Advance horn/strobes and Notifier NBG-12L pull stations.
To surprise, laying in the corner of the FACP room, were two boards from the original panel. I thought they would have thrown them out by now. So I picked one up and brought it home for you guys to take a look at.
Everything else on the system was Cerberus, so I’m guessing this is too. Does anyone know the model number?
This is for NewAgeServerAlarm, since he wanted to know what kind of panel it was.
The System 3 and 2001 are very similar panels. You cannot interchange cards or anything, but both use the same concept. Expandable card based panels. They are useful for additions to buildings, and extra initiating devices being installed. It also offers the potential to expand the panel’s capabilities with NAC cards and (with the 2001) coding cards.
Also cheaper on the maker, instead of making a whole 24 zone panel, they could use a base model and keep adding zones and extra functions.
You should see if they’ve still got the main board and power supply. Those fetch a pretty penny on eBay these days. Or, if you wanted to get it up and running, I have a two-bay System 3 cabinet that you could have if you paid for shipping.
Destin: Thanks for the advice! I was considering selling this on eBay (my Dad just says I should throw it out). I’m not sure if building still has the main board and power supply, but I’ll see if I can get my Dad to bring home the second board.
I don’t think I would try to even begin to put it back together. According to my Dad, this panel gave his work nothing but problems, but thanks for the offer for the cabinet!
If I could get my Dad to bring home the second board (I think it’s pretty much the same, it just has three rows of zones), do you think I could still make some money, or are people only into the controls and power supply?
You may be able to sell the zones as a lot, but the market for the CP-30/35 and power supply is particularly high because it’s often more cost-effective to just replace these instead of the whole panel. System 3’s will live forever if they’re properly maintained.
