Wheelock HS4's

Has anyone seen a Wheelock HS4 being used in a new installation? They look like a cross between the MT and AS, and is pretty much a 4-wire AS. The horn timbre is the same as the MT and AS, but is four-wire, and not multitone. Are these more for retrofit installations, where the Exceder line is meant for new installations?

On a side note, has anyone ever heard an MT set to other times besides Horn and Tone for fire alarm use?

I’m just tired of seeing Spectralert Advances all over where I live, to be honest.

I heard what I assume was an MT set on bell in the store of a small campground by Fort Wilkins, in the UP of Michigan. There was no fire, and it was going off the morning after a thunderstorm, so I assume lightning may have set the system off. It was before I was interested in alarms, so I didn’t take much note of it.

I believe a building at my college has them, though it’s impossible to know for sure because the HS4 looks identical to the MT. They were installed in 2008 and relabeled by Siemens.

The only other MT tone I’ve ever heard besides continuous and code-3 was hi-lo. It was on a system with Gentex horn/strobes in continuous, so it was probably set on hi-lo by mistake.
