Wheelock NS4 Specific Help

Hey all,

I got a Wheelock NS4 (NS4-241575W)a while back that was broken, me being me, I screwed it up a bit too much but its not completely dead. I need extremely Specific help with people who understand electronics and this stuff.

The Microcontroller runs Fine (Pulling 0.007 A) and the Horn very softly sounds, but you must really listen for it. So, Im guessing something’s up with the horn Amplifier Circuit, which the NS4 Horn Input controls. Is the Amplification circuit not working or is something else off…

As for the Strobe, The Flash Tube Broke, So I replaced it today with my E90 Flash Tube and Reflector (The NS4-241575W and E90 Reflectors are close enough in comparison with the E90 Being a bit more blockier, And no this NS is going for collector use only… btw)

I think the Charging Circuit went bad when I was working on it, as The weird noise the Horn Amplifies when charging is not present. https://youtu.be/-AfwjeGRrqA (This Noise)

Ive been looking at Wheelock Patents for an exceptionally long time now, and to no avail, as it appears on the surface that there is no patents directed for the NS4, (The Amp part) but there are plenty for the NS.

My last resort is to buy a Wheelock NS from eBay and Extract Parts from it.

If you can find any Schematics, drawings, or electrical knowledge about the Wheelock NS or NS4, Please reply below…

I assume the NS4 is a four wire unit made for synchronization with other horn strobes, would my assumption be correct?

You might have to send the unit to an electronics recycler if you can’t get it to work again.

No send it to a fire museum

unless it’s nearly extinct or very rare, that’s the place where it belongs. One such museum in Cleveland has a few modern devices in their collection.
