So i collect fire alarms and I’m used to all alarm sounds. No matter what I jump when the alarm goes off at school even though I have my schools model of alarm in my collection. (My schools alarms are gentex commander 3s set on mechanical code 3) I want to know if any one else gets startled by the fire alarms at your school.
Not me, I don’t jump very often. I’m actually used to the Wheelock Mt horn/strobes in my high school because we have fire drills every month.

My school had 4093 the mechanical version and code 3 the first half blast always scared us!
The Spectralert advances at my school are on full volume and ALWAYS scare me when the first blast happen. One time they malfunctioned and did around 10 seconds continuos and SCARED THE LIVING HECK out of me and my class.
Specter alerts aren’t bad nether are commanders. Commanders have a electronic electormechnical. I prefer a commander over a true alert.
The ones at my school are on high volume, and my school echos badly.

I usually do jump, I have anxiety so unexpected things (like fire drills) will do that to me. It was very bad in elementary school, with both the fire alarms and the bell system (4" and 10" adaptabels). I remember in Grade 4 my teacher had bought me earplugs because I would always cover my ears before the bell rang. High school wasn’t as bad because they usually listed the fire drills on the weekly calendars, and the administration would let me know whenever there was one.
A little bit off topic but still on topic. Has anyone seen other peoples reaction when the fire alarm goes off? If it’s not jumping up in the air, in the first second or two when the fire alarm goes off people would make a face of doubt and confusion. This is quite funny because if you where to prank someone multiple times with a fire alarm tone, they would always make this face :lol:
My old school had MA/SS set on Slow Whoop. Got me every time. I didn’t really jump though. My most recent school had Commanders set on Code 3 at like 1Khz. That wasn’t scary, just annoying. My new school is going to have Vibratones (By some other company) and I think they’re set on continuous.
Whenever the fire alarm went off in my schools, everyone literally got so quiet for a sec that you could’ve heard a pin drop. Then everyone figures out what it is and gets out of their chairs. I’ve gotten to be part of a fire drill, and its always so cool to hear everything in unison; first the alarms go off, silence, and then you hear all these chairs from every classroom scrape on the floor, and see everyone exiting the classrooms at the same time.
You have no idea how true this is. Its like this is as true as it could get LOL!! :lol: :mrgreen:
