In the latest Simpsons “Treehouse of Horror” special, in Bart’s classroom, Bart and Lisa find a desk with mysterious ancient writing on it. Among decoding it, the desk opens and a fiery hand pulls them down into Hades. Then the hand comes up again, goes over to a conveniently-located pull station with a large “FIRE ALARM” sign in the back of the classroom (in the T-bar style, as always) and pulls it, setting off the school bells, to which Skinner yells “Simpson!” offscreen (given Bart’s history of false fire alarms.) At least it didn’t set off the sprinklers this time!
They really need to get a better fire alarm sound to use on the show instead of just ringing the school bells. Even if they use the sound of a 10" bell or something (like the school bell sound they USED to use, still heard in the intro), it would still be more realistic than just the school bell. But then again, Springfield Elementary IS an underfunded school with a lot of obsolete stuff, so their fire alarm system is probably just that too (the panel is probably an old Simplex 4207 or 4208, given the pull stations.)
