Alarms on TV/Movies

It’s this slow whoop over and over again:

i no… but it just sounded odd and weird to me…

I seen that. It was a “whoop, whoop” sound but it seemed faster. Also there were a series of chime sounds then the whoops then chimes then whoops.
I’m not sure if that is the same sound you are referring to.

i think it is…

An alarm from a morning newscast. Sounds like SHGs to me…

I agree. Sounds like the ones in the Stop and Shop here in town.

In autos, we were watching some Chris Farley movie (the one where he takes over his dad’s auto parts company), and there were coded Edwards pulls in the factory and the offices.

In the movie superbad, during the home economics chapter. You can see a spectr alert near the door.

Watched Home of the Brave in JROTC today. At the Carmike Cinema, you could faintly see a double action Cerberus Pyrotronics/Siemens pull.

in hancock you can clearly see simplex truealerts and bg-12’s under stopper covers.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990): An MS-51 can be seen behind April at the police station near the beginning. I didnt think they were that old.

Die Hard: John McClane (Bruce Willis) pulls an RSG SP, lighting up a zone on an unknown fire alarm panel. Surprisingly, no alarms are heard and they did not use the Hollywood sprinkler activation.

I don’t care for the SHG at all.
It sounds like a duck.

On tonight’s MythBusters while they were in a warehouse-type building testing whether a Ninja can catch an arrow, several times an unknown pull and horizontal AS can be seen.

Also as the baddies are chasing John as he is crawling thru the ducts, a Honeywell TC100C smoke can be seen on the ceiling.

Just re-watched the Emergency Drills episode, and the fire alarm signal during the fire drill looks like an old cira-1920s fire alarm bell, not an Edwards Adaptabel. So the glitch they made is that only those bells go off, and not the MTs. Either they were still upgrading that school, or the new system was installed and they left the old system intact, but they’d power up the old system if the new one wouldn’t work. But then again, that stuff would only happen on TV, and not in real life.

On the show Wizards of Waverly Place, there is an episode where Alex tells Harper if she starts acting weird while talking to a guy, Harper should pull the fire alarm. After Alex is finished talking, a bell rings (fire alarm). She then tells Harper she didn’t need to pull it and Harper says that she didn’t and there must be a real fire. Harper than starts telling everybody how they should evacuate. The pull station is an Edwards 270-SPO. I don’t know what the bell is. They don’t show any strobes flashing.

In MST3K, they have a fire drill in one of the episodes. The alarm is a kind of fast whoop and the “Movie sign” lights turn on for a visual signal. They preform another one in the end of the same episode, but this time the alarm is a car alarm sound.

I actually heard that the other day when there was a special on TV. It looked like it was a parking garage they were in. But in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-3ZOEXxdYg this clip, at about 3:53, you hear the slow whoop like the Notifier kind. IDK what it was that you guys are referring to, but IDK if it was the fire alarm system. It’d keep kind of pointless (and annoying) to have that pattern (chimes and whoops) repeating over and over again. BTW, in the clip I posted, at about 3:12, you can see the strobe lights flashing through the windows.

At 4:11, you hear the weird alarm pattern. I think I know what it is - that is the alarm at the hotel, not the towers…

I hope nobody kills me for saying this… but on “Barney and Friends,” you can see an Edwards 270-SPO pull station right at the main entrance to the school building. The episode “Hola Mexico” even had a fire alarm sounding when Barney eats a nacho with salsa on it, but I doubt that purple dinosaur eating a hot food would actually trip the school’s alarm system. It was a bell in Continuous with a bunch of sirens. I’m sure they just did it the same reason you always hear a fire alarm go off in cartoons when someone eats an extremely hot food. But I’m surprised they never actually had an episode of “Barney and Friends” where the fire alarm really does go off! :stuck_out_tongue:

I just ordered a Terminator to find you and terminate you. (Just kidding of course!)
