In the “Cave digger” episode of Dirty Jobs, when the machine starts up, it sounds like (and probably is) an MT in code3 tone (Yes, it does code3)
in this week’s Dirty Jobs, they went into a salt mine, and when they got on to the elevator to go into the mine, they had to sound a 350 in 3 blasts to signal the elevator operator they want to go down.
In the "Cave digger" episode of Dirty Jobs, when the machine starts up, it sounds like (and probably is) an MT in code3 tone (Yes, it does code3)
I saw that one, if I remember correctly there's a bit of strobe ambiance as the code 3 tone is sounding, possibily as a warning the machine is starting up.When Mike was in Pennsylvania at a coal processing plant and learns how to make coke, carbonized coal used to make iron which in turn is used to make steel, a U-HNH style horn can be heard when the oven is open.
It’s in the Parade Float Dismantler ep.
I’ve seen that one. It sounded like a lower pitched 450, probably sounding as a warning that the coal oven is open.
I saw the salt mine as well. I have both the salt mine one and the cave digging one On Demand, so I may DVR clips from them and post them for all to see :D.
Just now on the Food Network show, The Next Food Netwrok star, they had the 4 remaining contestants in a Iron Chef cooking battle with 4 cast offs (they vote people off every week). When group 2 went up, they were cooking the secret ingreadiant, chicken on a grill. after a few minutes it was burnt and smoked up the whole set. After showing the room filled with smoke, and showing Iron Chef Cat Cora wipping her eyes, sure enough a Wheelock ET-LSM start it’s slow whoop. Alton Brown the head commentator of course commented on them setting off the “smoke alarms”, than after some more banter, they show a nice close up of the ET in action. They usually encore their shows started at 11PMEDST, so if any of you want to see the clip, check around midnight EDST. If you not into cooking, tune in around 20 minutes into the show (it’s an hour long show).
The new Spike TV show the Kill Point preview features a pulled T-Bar in the preview commercial
Oh!!! In a promo for tonight’s episode of Hell’s Kitchen, there is a fire in the kitchen. In the promo it has a sound effect of a smoke detector going off. Not sure what type went off in the actual show, though.
It sounded like 4/6.
Yeah, the promo told the truth, in the show it was 4/6. Not even f**king worth it. :x
In 1990, there was an ABC show called H.E.L.P… According to the Wikipedia page,
Anywho, there is a fire alarm in an ep. Someone in HS triggers a station (strangely he pushes up on some sort of lever) triggering a bell (shown).
that’s actually an old Autocall pull station, and an old Autocall bell. a local college in my inspection territory has an old system just like this. I’m at this college this week to inspect, that building is one of my next ones.
Simpsons movie had a smoke. It’s in the hotel room they’re in after they were
. It’s above the door, and is similar to a Dicon model (like Weatherdan has).
There is an alarm that goes off in a show called “Malcolm in the Middle” when Dewey tries to steal the “perfect pants”. It is a 4/6 piezo with a slower version of the Fast Warble. Like this:

In Hannah Montana, at their school, you can see EST style pull stations, you know, the kind with the black plastic flap that you have to lift up?
There are 2 episodes of Frasier that feature alarm system components.
At the start of one episode, you hear a smoke doing a slow-ish march time, and Frasier and his dad are running around the apartment thinking there’s a fire.
During the episode where Frasier and Niles become owners of a restaurant, something happens (I forget what) in the restaurant and the sprinklers turn on after a “15 second delay” according to Frasier. Of course, all the sprinklers in the establishment activate at once, and there’s some button on the wall that turns them off. Unfortunately, no alarms go off.
I saw a National Weather Service crawl today about a Severe T-Storm warning, and I heard a buzzer-like sound for the crawl do Code-4!!!
On “Dirty Jobs” Mike had to put grease on NASA’s “Crawler” vehicle. The actual crawler it self had alarms! It had what looked like a Simplex T-bar, and what looked like either a sideways mounted Advanced or a MASS.

Also, when he is digging wine caves, the digger machine has a MT-24-LSM set to Code 3 horn that goes off when the digger thing is going to start. You can see a strobe flashing as well.
