This may sound a little off topic, but that reminds me of the Edwards strobe I saw at Home Depot. On the machine that custom-cuts wood for you, there is a red Edwards strobe that flashes when it is activated.
Cool! Well anyways, I saw that Dirty Jobs where they had the space shuttle carrier. I missed the alarm part, though. :x
Rush Hour 3 (Funny as [devilâs domain])
â˘Simplex? on what looked like a 4904-9101 plate
â˘SpectrAlert
â˘Gentex 8000/8003 smoke, all in a hospital.
I saw a âSesame Streetâ episode from 2002 (episode 3981) where there was a fire at Hoopersâ store. They had a smoke detector beeping in a fast March Time-type sound.
EDIT:
The Simplex might be a WheelockâŚ
Also saw a 270 pull, and white horizontal strobes.
The alarm at Lambeau Field went off right before the start of todayâs game. I saw the strobes flashing in the background when the telecast started (they said there had been a false alarm a few minutes ago).
Today, on an episode of Arthur, this girl named Jenna had a medical condition that makes people wet the bed, and she had to wear an alarm to bed, and when it went off, it sounded like a 2901-9806 in continuous!!!
OK, Here are few I know
-
IDK if this is correctâŚIn Disneyâs âInspector Gadgetâ, in the hospital, there are Edwards Integrities and Edwards 270-SPOâs.
-
In âAir Bud Spikes Backâ, in the exhibit (where they put the diamond) I saw an Edwards 270-SPO.
-
In âSky Highâ, after Warren sets something on fire, I saw an Edwards 270-SPO being zoomed in by the camera with a Stopper Cover.
There was a scene in âGremlins 2: The New Batchâ where a woman pulls an Edwards 270-SPO, and when she does, on the loudspeakers a voice recording says âFire: The Untamed Element, Oldest of Manâs Mysteries, Giver of warmth, Destroyer of forests, right now this building is on fire.
Yes! The building is on fire! Leave the building! Enact the Age Old drama of Self-Preservation!â The movie was made in 1990, and I think they did have Voice-Evac panels back then (I think there was a Simplex 2001 with voice capabilities), but they wouldnât work like that in real life. There werenât even any strobes!
My mother and grandmother watch the soap called Young and the Restless a lot and I have seen many episodes, especially the one this past Friday.
There is too much to tell to have everyone up to speed, so I will try to shorten things up that leads to the fire alarm.
Money was stolen, one man found the money, hid it in the âClubâ hotel roomâs air vent, he was killed, another character (Amber) found the money after looking for it.
Amber was having a conversation with her alter ego when she got the idea to burn a few hundred dollars, place it with other burnt paper, etc. so the authorities would think that all of the money was burnt up. She wound up putting the bag back in the air vent, lit another 100 on fire and placed it in the bag with the rest of the burnt money and waited for the fire alarm to sound. She hid the rest of the money and when the alarm sounded, she took the money.
The alarm sounded like a smoke detector that does (I think) the 4/6 pattern. The strobes in the room and hall flashed. They showed the strobe in the room flash, but that was it. They showed several different parts of the hotel and they had the same beeping noise with the lights flashing. Now, I think the horn was a spectralert because I have heard a spectralert do a tone similar to the 4/6 pattern.
I will try to find a video on youtube. Also, here is an article about the episodeâŚ

UPDATE:::: HERE IS THE VIDEO⌠THE FIRE ALARM IS TOWARDS THE END:

Pretty cool. Actually a family friend who also likes Y&R told me about it yesterday over the phone. As for the alarm, it might just be a stock smoke detector SFX. I also heard the Simplex Chime sound. The strobe looked like a Siemens unit.
On âCurb your Enthusiasmâ on HBO last week there was a smoke alarm that was sounding for no reason. Larry knocked it off the wall. They adopted a hurricane family but the people they adopted were smoking in their house. Larry asked the woman not to smoke in their house, and she stuck her cigarette in Larryâs food, and he threw the plate out in the garbage. At night they showed the trash can smoldering and then showed where the smoke detector was. Their house burned and then they were displaced from their house.
This is a trailer for a movie The Newcomers. A kid pulls the fire alarm at the beginning of the trailer. The alarm is a 9838.
âKing of the Hillâ had a couple of them. There was one where a scene had Bobby lighting a cigarette in bed, but it starts a small fire, and then a smoke detector instantly goes off (in 4/6 pattern) and Bobbyâs sister puts out the fire. Another had them at a church, but then a fire alarm bell began ringing and everyone screamed in horror and evacuated. It sounded like a 10-inch bell in Continuous. Then it showed the church on fire, with everyone standing outside and Bobby asks whoâd try to burn it down.
That stock smoke detector sound effect is from Sound Ideaâs âThe Generalâ Series 6000 sound effects library (itâs a CD set), and I also heard that smoke alarm sound on âFranklin and the Fireâ when they show Franklin how their house is ready for fire (Franklin says âThatâs loud!â as he and his mom cover their ears), and it was on a couple of âArthurâ episodes, too. It was on âD.W. All Fired Upâ when D.W. tests the smoke alarms (the first one makes this sound, and the second one makes a louder, higher-pitched beeping), and then on âArthurâs Perfect Christmasâ when Mrs. Baxter accidentally burns the pancakes.
Sounds like one to me. Some 9838s (and the Faraday version) have a very rough sound, rather than the smoother sound.
Wait a minute. Does Faraday just relabel fire alarms?
They make their own alarms. I know that the Siemens U-HNH and U-MMT are manufactured by Faraday⌠theyâre just relabled. Faraday also assisted in manufacturing horns for Simplex (like the 4050 series, the 2901-9833, 2901-9838/9846 and the 4903-series electromechanical horns).
Yeah, I saw that on the news⌠(I live in Milwaukee) I didnât see the game, thoughâŚ
Another Dirty Jobs alarm:
In the Viewerâs Choice ep.
At 0:14:xx as theyâre in the hotel stairway, what looks like a 4903 or 4903 strobe can be seen.
At 0:18:xx a T-Bar, then a 4903- series can be seen. Same hotel.
At 0:23:xx what looks like a BRK 4919 can be seen in Mikeâs room.
At 0:30:xx another T-Bar and 4903 can be seen.
