Tsk tsk tsk is all I gotta say. Like really, the garden center! You need to report that to management.

It looks like the issue with the blocked fire alarm in the Walmart garden center has been fixed now.

It kinda looks like the strobe was damaged

Since Walmart has a contract with System Sensor, They should replace the damaged P2RK with a new P2RKLED (LED Weatherproof L-Series).

Excuse me, Walmart has a wha-?

A contract with System Sensor, which is why some Walmarts have Spectralert Classic, Spectralert Advance, or L-Series. Walmart made an agreement with System Sensor to install new Xenon L-Series for the Walmart in Sams Circle in my city, which had a severe incident and was closed for quite a long time, then has been renovated. Walmart also has agreed with Bosch for the initiating devices and the new main panel for the system. They also agreed to buy ElectroVoice pendant speakers, which is why Walmart started going ElectroVoice with their stores.

I never knew that they had a contract with System Sensor/Honeywell

The old Walmart stores in my area have System Sensor horn/strobes and strobes. The newer stores have Wheelock speaker/strobes.

Funnily enough, the Walmart off Andrew Johnson Hwy. in Morristown, TN had a Wheelock SAFEPATH voice evac system with Wheelock Speaker Strobes but the system had been replaced with just Xenon L-Series on the ceiling.

It is strange how they would replace a voice evac system with horns. It is more typical that systems in buildings with horns get replaced with voice evac speakers rather than the other way around.

You’re right, I’d have at least kept the SAFEPATH and installed some Xenon or LED L-Series Speaker/Strobes.

3 Walmart stores in my area back in 2022 got new PA systems/music systems with Bosch speakers. Two of them are big Walmarts and one is a Walmart Market. One of the big Walmarts used to play PA announcements and music through the Wheelock speaker/strobes and they now have Bosch speakers throughout the store for PA announcements/music and the speaker/strobes are now only used for fire alarm notification.

I don’t see why they didn’t do that here. I also have another instance of this “speaker-to-horn” upgrade that exists somewhere else, a YouTuber named FireAlarm9200 got one out of a Walmart as well.

I would think that big Walmart stores would require voice evac, though of course old stores with horns will be grandfathered. Walmart Market stores can have horns because they are the size of a typical supermarket and so don’t require voice evac.

A saw on YouTube a comment from a month ago where it said a couple of Walmarts in Myrtle Beach were in the process of replacing their Wheelock speaker/strobes with L-Series LED horn/strobes.

Yep, there has been a recent tendency for Walmart to go back to having horns, not speakers in the stores.
