I took these photos back in late August, but I don’t think I ever got around to posting them. These were taken at the abandoned school in my father’s hometown. This school closed in 2008. Please excuse the odd angles and low quality, as these were taken through a window. These are not actually in the main school, but in an addition from the late 1920’s for the second photo, and from the mid-1960’s. For the first and last photos. Obviously, this isn’t the original fire alarm system. If there was anything before this, it is long gone.
Unfortunately, I don’t think I will be getting anything from here anytime soon. Most of the school is completely condemned and very run down. These photos show the least damaged parts that I could see. Most of the windows in the original part of the school (that I was not able to get near due to overgrown plants) are broken out. On the other hand, the 1965 gymnasium is still in use by the community, so I can’t take the devices in that area either.

At least try to get them if you can. I know you might not be able to but I would approve it if you could.

I’ll see what I can do. I’m not hopeful, though, and I’m definitely not risking my life to go in most parts of the building.

I’ve uncovered some old photos of the building that appear to show old Simplex devices, such as 2902 speaker/strobes and the whiffle-ball detectors. This leads me to believe that this could have been a Simplex 2001 voice evac system before the 4100U. I’m thinking there was likely some sort of AC system in place before that.

Correction: if they use the Life-Alarm style grille, they’re 2902 speaker strobes/lights.

I want to redo my explanation of this system, as I now know a little more about it:
New System (2021-Current):
Panel: Siemens FV922 or FV924
Notification Appliances: Most of the mall has Siemens SLSPSCW-F speaker/strobes and SEF-CW speakers. Most stores do not have anything, but I saw at least two newer stores with devices. One has SLSPSCW-F speaker/strobes, while the other one had ZH-MC-CR horn/strobes and ZR-MC-CR remote strobes. The back areas and hallways with the administration, restrooms, and storage areas have Siemens SLHSWR-F horn/strobes and SLSWR-F remote strobes.
Pull Stations: Siemens HMS-S addressable pull stations
Smoke detectors: Siemens OP921 addressable smoke detectors
Annunciators: Many Siemens FT2015-U3 annunciators, with one at each entrance to the mall
Anchor Stores With Independent Systems:

Panel: Probably a Fire-Lite MS9200UDLS
Notification Appliances: System Sensor PC2W and P2W horn/strobes, and SCW and SW remote strobes

At least one 4903-9105 and 2901-9838 combo remains on the wall at the mall entrance, but it is most likely disconnected.

As you can see, like most malls, this one has quite a mix of systems. A few of the old Edwards 892 series horn/strobes from the mall’s original system can still be found around the mall, but they are almost certainly disconnected.
The Simplex system is kinda like, my dream system? Wow.

Yeah, I like that stuff too. Those devices (specifically the 4903-9101 and 4903-9105 strobe plates, and the 2901-9838 horns) are extremely common in my area on older Simplex systems. Unfortunately, many of them have been replaced already. I don’t know of any 2903- series light/strobe plates in my area anymore, and many of the older Simplex devices have been replaced, either with newer Simplex devices, Siemens devices, or Honeywell devices.

I distinctly remember this system as I seen it in 2020, my last year living in Williamson, W.Va.

I don’t distinctively remember the smokes, so I am assuming they’re SIGA-PS detectors. I do however recall seeing an external Edwards-branded warden phone or was it a dialer of some sort right below the main panel at the entrance.
It’s crazy that I remembered this bizarre and rare EST2 system and it’s unfortunate that I might not be able to save this system should it get, or if it has already been inevitably replaced. The EST2 was 2-bay, short and wide, and looked like the images you see when you search “EST2 fire alarm panel voice evac” on Google Images, but has the old EST branding on it.

UPDATE: Either CPU has been replaced with a Notifier NFS2-3030, or, if it’s possible, the IFC2-3030 CPU got switched to Notifier firmware. I know this because, when I walked into the building today, I saw the panel’s display had the Notifier logo graphic on it instead of the usual Johnson Controls logo. This is a similar situation to what I saw at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, where the Johnson Controls IFC system was taken over by Notifier. This is officially, as far as I know, the first Notifier voice evac system and first 3030 system in my area. I don’t know of any other Johnson Controls systems either. I’m thinking that we are seeing so many of these systems get switched to Notifier because they want to hurry up and switch out the CPUs before Honeywell stops making the 3030 parts. Also, Johnson Controls might be abandoning these systems, but that seems like a silly move on their part that could result in loss of revenue, especially when it is far easier to Switch to a Notifier system than to a Simplex system.

Firecom LSN2000 Voice Evac System, This Possibly replaced a older model of the LSN2000 Because the other floors have E70s, and the first 3 floors of the building have Eluxa’s, Before this, The whole building had e70s.
