WellI I guess I’ll introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me. My name is Nick and I am currently attending a private high school as a sophomore outside of Pittsburgh PA. I have been into fire alarms for as long as I can remember. I have been collecting since early 2013 and am still going, my collection currently has around 100 devices including a Simplex 4010 that I just bought (which is my first real panel by the way) :). I started my YouTube channel back in 2013 but recently made a new one and also have a Twitter and Instagram for my channel as well. I joined the forums back in October of 2015 as well and recently started to post things. I have several different hobbies including technology (I am an Apple fan), elevators, exit signs, emergency lights, trains, two way radios and especially fire alarms. I have plans to become a fire alarm technician and eventually an electrical engineer. And that’s my story.
Hello guys,
Well, since I’ve been on this forum for a while, I guess I’ll introduce myself. My name is Ethan Orr. . I am a dedicated guitar player, and have been playing since I was about 1 1/2 years old technically (John Denver, a local musician here where I live, influenced me at that young age), though I started lessons in 2007, at the age of 5. I have performed on many occasions, and have even played on stage with professional musicians. I also play trumpet, piano, clarinet, and a little mandolin. One of my favorite musical activities to do besides playing guitar is messing around with analog synthesizers!!
I am an avid fire alarm collector. I first started to collect in 2007. My collection has grown from a BG-12 and a Spectralert classic to almost 200 alarms. I’ve also recently gained an interest in Vintage and antique electrical equipment, and antique radios, after we went through my late Uncles stuff and I received quite a few items, such as old radios. I also love messing around with technology (Apple is my favorite!).
In my future, I plan on becoming a professional musician or a electrical engineer.
Guitar, trumpet, and mandolin? Heeeeeck yes!
I’ve been playing trumpet for over seven years, and guitar for a year and a half. I’ve only been playing mandolin for around six months, so it’s the instrument I have the least expertise with. Oh well.
What kind of trumpet and mouthpiece do you play?
Anyway, welcome to the board, and remember, I’m better than you!
Welcome Ethan! I’m also a guitar player and analog synth enthusiast. I’ve been playing drums and guitar for 15+ years and have been doing it professionally since I was in high school.
I used to have a beat up Martin coronet when I first started playing at the end of 4th grade. For my 12th birthday, my grandparents bought me a King trumpet (the REALLLY nice ones). I cannot remeber the mouthpiece. I haven’t picked up the horn recently due to idiots in my former band class (last year) who dented it, so I have to get it fixed since the sound is a little off than before the incident. Anyways, it’s pretty awesome to know that we play some similar instruments!!
Why hello! I’ve been lurking around fire alarms for as long as I can remember (2007 I believe). Not a collector, more of an enthusist but having the urge to maybe start collecting perhaps? There’s something about fire alarms that makes me want to collect them… don’t know why though, just feels like an itch that I want to scratch (or well… start collecting in this case ) Part of this itch comes from numerous YouTubers (NewAgeServer, weatherdan, etc.) The only reason I really haven’t gotten into collecting was of financial issues (not working right now).
Currently in University, attending a program in IT. Perhaps I might use my skills somehow here? Also Canadian. Yep from Canada. We have many bells here. We love our bells. Besides fire alarms, I do aviation photography from time to time and mainly study. Anyways glad to be finally heading into the fire alarm community!
One quick thing, I am pretty lost at a lot. Any recommendations for anything to start my collection? Something that my parents won’t kill me over?
My name is Kevin, and it looks like I’m one of the first users to return to the forums ever since the corruption. I already tried logging in under my old credentials, but seeing as though that doesn’t work anymore, and since I keep getting a SQL error on my old fire alarm and bell pictures topic, I’ve gone ahead and re-registered. None of my old postings have reappeared in any other topic, so I used that evidence also towards my re-registering. It’s very disappointing to lose years of work, yes, but I’m glad many of us get to start fresh again and hopefully become valuable contributors to the community.
As a little re-introduction, I’m from Livonia, Michigan, and I’ve had a genuine interest in fire alarm and general signaling components for as long as I can remember. Some of my other hobbies include video gaming, metal detecting, writing, and drawing. I would like to mention that I have lived with a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome since I was two years old, so my comments may sometimes come off as awkward. I’m always looking to broaden my knowledge and socialize with people in spite of my disability. Recently, I’ve added more fire alarm albums to my private computer, and I recently went on a clinical affiliation site visit that still had parts of an old Autocall/Faraday/IBM system in place, so I hope to share more information of that system soon. I also own a small, private fire alarm collection that I hope to share with you all also in the future.
Hi again all. Seems my previous posts and account got lost when the server went down.
I’ve been in the FA field since 1987 working primarily on Siemens equipment (certified in all their FA systems except Desigo) and EST. I’m NICET III in fire and NICET I in sprinkler system testing/maintenance. Most of my experience is in the NYC area as well as south Florida.
I currently work for the federal government in the DC area and plan on finishing my career here if possible.
Hello, I’m NewEnglandElevators from YouTube! Some of you may recognize my name from various alarm/elevator videos I have shared with the world. Looks like my original account got lost in the corruption of the forum, so I created this new one.
For a brief introduction, I would like to state that I am not only an elevator enthusiast, but I am also proud to call myself a Fire Alarm enthusiast! I’ve been interested in those two subjects mentioned as long as I can remember. Outside of elevators and alarms, my other interests revolve around emergency/exit lighting, vintage audio systems, computers, retail history, architecture, just to name a few. If any of you have a question about any of those things (including elevators, too!), feel free to ask me. Likewise, feel free to fill me in on something I may not know.
I’ve been a member of this forum since 2013. I don’t post a whole lot, but usually chime in discussions whenever there’s a topic that interests me.
I’m glad to see that the forum is back up, and I am glad to be back on here!
Hello Everyone! I’m luesjo12, and I love Fire Alarms. I have many other interests, my main interest being The Weather Channel and Weather/Meteorology/Atmospheric Science. Other than Weather and TWC, another big interest of mine is Fire Alarms. I love fire alarms, and I love watching many of the system test videos some of the talented and wonderful people in the fire alarm community post on YouTube.
I might not post a lot on the forums, but I know I will enjoy just being with people that share an interest with me!
Thanks, and I am so glad to be a part of your community!

I’m sure some of you remember me from around 2 years ago but for those who don’t, I’m NJMoo3652 and I’m a fire alarm and exit lighting enthusiast. Backstory time! I’ve been registered on this board for about 2 years now and the reason why I’m now just posting in this topic is because I was banned for being underage. At the time I was still on the forums, I was known (at least I think now) as a little kid who didn’t really know much and was overall just going through that obsessed idiot phase. Since I am now of-age, I’m back on the forums. Between those 2 years, a lot has changed. I’ve gained A LOT more fire alarm knowledge, my collection has become very sizable, I have a fastly growing YouTube channel, and not to mention that I’m putting up a brand new fire alarm system in my house. I’m excited to be back on the forums and am ready to share my knowledge and input on this board. Thanks for stopping by!
Hi, I’m new to the fire alarm forums. I’m 25, and had a growing interest in fire alarms for a while (I became somewhat fascinated by them since sometime in high school). But honestly, I’m a little new to electronics in general, too. I have a beginner’s experiment kit, but other than that, I’m clueless. I would like to learn more about electronics. I remember I was ordered a pull station on eBay as a Christmas gift years ago, but I know I can’t hook it up to stuff because I’m clueless.
I went ahead and merged your topic with our existing “Introduce Yourself” topic. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the site, please feel free to contact me or another member of our moderator/administrator team.
With the wealth of resources we have available on this forum, I’m sure you’ll have a firm grasp on how to use some of this equipment in no time. We have a Beginner’s Area available if you’d like to read some of the topics there; they cover many of the basics regarding the operation of fire alarm devices, as well as many other helpful tips.
