Name That Fire Alarm!

From Green Market in Brockton, Massachusetts, here’s a System Sensor SS24L0.
Volts: 24DC, Flash rate: 2.0x.4 Per 3 Sec, Amps: .025, Flash energy: 1.5 Candela.

And it’s got an MA behind it, making it an MASS.

From South Station in Boston, MA, name that fire alarm!

It’s a Wheelock E70.

Could also be a CH70. This picture is not too clear but here is how to tell:

If the speaker cone is black or dark gray, it’s an E70.
if the speaker cone is orange, it’s a CH70.

That’s definitely a Wheelock E70. All the other signals there are the Wheelock ET speakers with the 7002T-style strobe on top, as well as a couple of VA4 speaker/strobes.

From North Junior High School, this is a Faraday 129 horn. This one is painted gray.
The majority of the school has these painted gray.
I’m also enclosing a closeup of the info label below the flush-mount grille.

just keeping this post alive

Yeah, not kidding. I gotta get out more to find more.

I never saw a Space Age VA4 speaker/strobe before.

To keep this post alive, here’s an Edwards 874-N5 with an AdaptaBeacon 52A-N5-40W.
Sometime in 2009, the little volume screw on the front of the grille was removed to keep it at its full volume.

They look exactly like the horn/strobe version. The problem is you can’t tell them apart unless you hear them go off. Seems they were following the Edwards/EST practice (the 892 and Integrity horn and speaker alarms look exactly alike), though when you look closely in the grille of the identical 4903 Simplex alarms, you can tell what kind it is (an electromechanical horn has a shiny metallic sounder plate that shows up as silver if you shine a flashlight into it or use a camera flash; electronic horns are all black inside and a bit shiny, but not as much as electromechanical ones; speakers have a silver shiny center with black surrounding it, and some of these models make that soft idle buzzing sound some Simplex speakers make when they are not in alarm).

It’s been awhile, but I’m still alive. So, here’s two new pics.

Name that fire alarm

  1. SpectrAlert Advance weatherproof strobe

  2. Wheelock 7002 horn/strobe

This one’s a giveaway: A Simplex TrueAlert

Where’d you find that one?

I forgot to mention its location when I posted it.
Anyhow, it’s from the PriceRite store on River Street in Hyde Park, Boston, Massachusetts.
I found it in the Men’s Restroom. There’s a few of those around, but the majority of the alarms in the store are Simplex 4903-9219s.

Sorry for the blurryness, but it looks decent from my point of view.
Anyhow, from Famous Nathan’s New York Franks/Coffee Pot cafe shop at Quincy Center MBTA station, name that fire alarm!

EST Genesis - Ceiling Mount

(I don’t know the actual model number)

I’m assuming it’s an electronic horn/strobe
