I would love to buy a 4050-80
A Simplex 4207/4208. The only 4207 on EBay right now is way too big for my needs, and is over $1,000… Uffda.
Jeez! Oofda is right.
Same here! May be getting a system of 411Fs soon though!
A Simplex 2903-9001, yup.
I live in the EU so it’s generally a pain to get these shipped and by the time I have enough money someone else has probably already sniped the eBay listing.
A Simplex 4100ES/4100U
It’s too proprietary anyway. You need special software to program it, and only simplex technicians have access to it.
Yeah that is what I and so many collectors don’t like about simplex
Definitley a Simplex 2001, an Edwards 6700 voice control, or an Edwards/EST ESA-2000 with voice control.
The only Edwards 6700 I’ve seen was at my mom’s work (a 70s nursing home). It had a Edwards 6500 with single stroke bells, and then the 6700 with speakers for voice paging/fire telephones. They replaced it, and funny enough my company does service work for them now, it is a Vigilant VM panel with speakers throughout.
We had an old arena that had an ESA-2000 with voice control. We replaced it with a Vigilant VS panel, and added a few horns and disconnected the speakers. The old setup had speakers everywhere, with Edwards strobes mounted around as well.
I’ve never seen a Simplex 2001 yet. But would love to add one to my collection.
You need special software to program it, and only simplex technicians have access to it.
Getting access would require a lot of technical skill and be rather difficult, but it’s probably not impossible. Here’s someone who’s tried (but we unfortunately haven’t heard any recent updates.)
I been wanting a 2903 for a while now but due to how eBay prices are, that’s never gonna happen unless I find a place that has them (couldn’t even find a single building with 2903s) that either getting demolished or getting its system is getting replaced. Maybe if someone around me is selling there collection (which I highly doubt). Same deal with 4050-80s and 4051s. If people continue to buy these 2903s for insane prices, then the only enthusiasts would get them would be enthusiasts that have a high amount of Money to afford it or manged to get lucky in a trade
Honestly, I would like a Simplex 2120. These are a PAIN to find and get working. But I also collect retro electronics and do breadboarding. If I ever find one to keep, I would probably have the experience with flashing chips and even have an old Terminal to interface with it!
Yeah I want a simplex light plate too, but there too expensive
I know that feel, I’d really love myself to get a Simplex 2001 (or hell, maybe even a 4001!) or an Ansul Autopulse 2000 (in fact, I nearly got one but at the time didn’t have a bank account…)… And besides if you put aside the eye-wateringly expensive import costs, there’s the problem of the power supply on these being 110V/120V and since in Europe we use 240V… That is going to be a bit of an issue. (well except on the AP2000 which has a PSU that can be jumpered to run on 240V).
I’ve seen a few FireLite panels that have a 240V PSU from the get go, but at prices that are way beyond what I can afford… Unfortunately.
Alexis,
Too bad you’re not in the states. I have an Autopulse 2000 panel that you can have, but the shipping would be prohibitive. I removed it a few years ago from a working system. Probably have the detectors that were with it too.
The power supply issue can be resolved by using a travel converter.
Pilot,
I appreciate the kind offer, but as you said, given the shipping is going to be a financial killer, if I may ask, I’m curious to know roughly expensive it’ll be.
@randomperson - Yup, that’s exactly what I was thinking of doing should I ever get such a panel, maybe even getting a old stepdown/isolation transformer and concealing it in a external battery enclosure
I will need to weigh the panel and then you can see what shipping would be from my zip code to yours.
An est genesis. I find the appearance quite interesting.
Why can’t you get a genesis. There like so common
