Amway Amgard E-9309? (which according to veteran detector collector NLind is a very rare unit)
It is very rare probably rarer than the original units with the secular removable panel on the front
Outside of the E-9309 having an additional low battery test switch (which I think some of Amway’s other units have) & vent on the front as well as the LED being in a different spot I don’t know about a “secular removeable panel” as you put it.
Yes there were 2 of the models with the removable front plate one with a test button witch Nlind has and one without that jan eaton has then there was the common one which looks like mine but has the 800a circuitry and has one less vent also uses the battery switch and there also was a 9v version of that common one then they made the one i have witch also uses a 9v but is rarer i made a video of it on my channel my channel is linked under my fire panel name sry for no punctuation i dont feel like adding it
Bro how the hell did u know i was on this forum u popped out of nowhere its like u know every thing i post on lmao and i know u joined the same day i posted the picture of my collection because it says it its funny as hell
Since I actually want to start collecting older smoke detectors, I looked for more.
I found two more that I want to buy.
The first one for $5 and the second for $10.
Does anyone know if they are worth buying or rare?
I’d personally say that both are indeed worth buying, especially at such cheap prices (normally such units would probably be much more expensive).
New to the forum, joined to ask this particular question.
I remember this model from my childhood, since long-gone. Saw this listing and couldn’t make out anything besides a part or model number that didn’t reveal any Google results, and it’s a company that was possibly based in Ada, MI, in 1977.
That is an Amway E-8315 or E-8375 (not sure of the differences between them or which it is exactly), an ionization electromechanical (“squealer”) horn residential smoke detector, powered by 6 AA batteries & based off the SmokeGard 800A (another make & model of detector). They are extremely rare to find these days.
I have a very old smoke alarm It looks like it’s made in 1990’s because the corrosion in it.
Do you have any photos of it? That would help it be identified.
I haven’t been on here in a while but I have had this detector for sometime. The very rare Guardion Fx - 1 circa 1976. This is the original box with instuctiions, mounting hardware and even a rare pamplet on recommending this detector to a friend. Mine has a ULC lsting meaning it was sold in Canada. I live in Canada and the seller I purchased this from also lives in Canada. This detector must have been geared towards families with young children. That little girl in that picture is at least my age (almost 51) if not older by now. I hope this posts. This was a very rare alarm as the plug and wires were seperate and if one didn’t know what they were doing they would have never got this right. I was just lucky the first time around I got it right. It has a vert high pitched sound and works with test spray although it is slightly delayed when it sounds,

It is an Amway E-8315 from 1977. I have one in my collection. I got mine still sealed in the box off Ebay a few years ago and it runs on 6 AA batteries which can be a pain to install. And yep it is based off the Smoke Gard 800A. It used the Delt Alarm squealer horn so it it’s very high pitched when it sounds although I do believe some models also had the regular Kobishi CLB 27 horn,
Ah. Any idea what the difference(s) between the E-8315 & the E-8375 is/are exactly?
