TAFATP BREAKING NEWS: @MASS2475ADA Obtains Honeywell W940

This is some *** TAFATP BREAKING NEWS! ***

As of Sunday, August 17th of 2025, I am proud to announce one of The Anti-Fire Alarm Trashing Police’s biggest accomplishments yet! About 2 weeks in from me forming TAFATP, and a fellow member, @MASS2475ADA, got a lot from @pilot of which he rescued many items after being taken out of service.

One of these items were a Honeywell W940 FACP, a very sought after and a lesser known about panel in the community. This panel is indescribably rare and a first on so many different levels.

Here are some pictures:

I am trying to determine whether this has EVAC or not, because the whole “mystery voice evacuation whoop thing” topic. (EDIT: It isn’t EVAC) However, I would like to congratulate @pilot for rescuing these items (including the W940) and @MASS2475ADA for obtaining these from @pilot and being the first to own a Honeywell W940. Now all TAFATP needs to do is get a Firecom 8500.

The Anti-Fire Alarm Trashing Police thanks everyone, all rejoice!

I don’t think there is currently any centralized documentation for the W940. It would be great to post information about it here and on the wiki.

So it is so rare that there is no documentation on this panel whatsoever?!?! You know what?

MUSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD!

Hey, @MASS2475ADA, what’s the manu-date on the W940?

I found the Tag on it.

Yours is a W940C, interesting. Can anyone help with the date code? I see 8430 which I guess means the 30th day of 1984.

30th day? Or 30th week?

Also, did this come with the instructions?

I dunno what the date code is supposed to mean. It could be 30th day or 30th week.

I wonder if Glenn of OSFA knows anything about these

@SpockKirk-1701, do you know anything about the Honeywell W940?

I just figured out the date, code is YYWW, where YY is the year and WW is the week. So it was manufactured on the 38th week (or late Sept./early Oct.) of 1984. (I got the 8 wrong cause it looked like a 0)

Therefore, @MASS2475ADA, your W940 is from late 1984!

Dang. It looks so new, yet so old.

Oh wow! I never thought id see one of those in an enthusiasts hands. Its in remarkable condition for being 40+ years old

He’s the first ever to own one!

I can see that! Very good

That is a sweet looking panel. Document everything you can, I am very intrigued by that panel. Anything interesting you have found so far?

To check out other things that MASS ADA has found, be sure to check out my Main TAFATP Topic.

MASS ADA’s W940 panel was in service until 2023 when the building was upgraded to an XLS3000 with DVC audio. I have a few more Honeywell W940 control boards, but no doors for the cabinets. I also have some W939 panels and original documents. Still have a W939 in service for notification activation only.
