Something I notice about Walmarts in my area is that they don’t have many pull stations. Typically they will just have one or two stations, typically having one located at the service desk. Same goes for Target.
My local Wal-Mart has a Bosch system with vertical strobe wheelock ASes and Wheelock RS strobes in the bathroom.
Wow, that NA hanging from the ceiling is funny. I think that also might be a generic exit sign (not that is completely bad or anything). I’ve seen exit signs being hung at a brand new Publix by the conduit. It looks pretty nice when there is no drop ceiling.
That picture of the Wheelock horn mounted in that fashion reminds me sort of how some of the 2DCDs in my high school were mounted: on a rod but the horn was pointing down.
Oh, I just remembered that the Publix I mentioned in my previous post has Exceders hanging from the ceiling by the conduit, right above the aisles.
One Publix in my area has Wheelock AS’s hanging from the ceiling by the conduit, above the aisles. Another Publix has a drop ceiling, and has Wheelock AS’s on the ceiling tiles above the aisles.
Yes, another semi-new Publix nearby me has AS’s hanging by conduit, also. These systems are ADT systems with BG-12’s, and a LCD-80. An older Publix nearby has AS’s mounted on the wall, with a Bosch annunciator, and EST dual action pulls.
An older 1990’s Walmart in Elk Grove has only one Wheelock in the back of the store, and a replacement Wheelock RSS in the front near Customer Service. Weird thing, the annunciator is a Simplex and is four feet from the floor.
A brand new Super Walmart in West Elk Grove has a Wheelock Speaker Strobe system. This system also doubles as a PA system.
My local Walmart has a Radionics system. There are Bosch annunciators, but there is an alarm station in the customer service area. There is a Radionics annunciator, and a Radionics T-bar pull. The Alarms are Spectralert ceiling mount horn strobes and remote strobes. In the bathrooms are Spectralert remote strobe wall mounts which have fixed c/d strobes.
The local Wal-Mart near me that I sometimes go to has ceiling mount Wheelock MTs with BG-12 pull stations. I never been in the bathroom but I assume that they are strobes.
I know this is a slightly old topic, but I have a piece of interesting information to share.
My Wal-mart has a Siemens system!!
The main panel is in the front of the store; it’s a Siemens MXL-IQ.
The pull stations are found by every single exit from the building, and are the MS-51 pull stations with bilingual lettering.
The main signals are bilingual U-MMT-MCS horn/strobes. They are placed by all exits.
The remote strobes are U-MCS, also bilingual. They’re found in the washrooms.
On the main floor space, the signals are surface-mounted on support beams. Two U-MMTs are placed opposite of each other, and so are two U-MCSs.
Also, in McDonald’s and the vision center, there are Siemens piezoelectric horn/strobes, IDK the model number.
Finally, I believe the smoke detectors are the photoelectric addressable Siemens detectors.
I had seen a Radionics pull in a Wal-Mart before ( who hasn’t? ), but i cant remember where, but some store i went to had a U-MMT. I cant remember where the store is let alone what the name of it is. I think it was a Wal-Mart, but im going to check probably every Wal-Mart ive been to in my area until i find it. Its going to be a neat find for being a Wal-Mart.
