What alarm do you have at work/school

Let’s see…

In my currenct school (that used to have a daycare part, with different alarms):

School parts:
-Gentex Commander 2s set on high pithced (3000hz?) march time
-1 Wheelock NS unknown tone, probably same
-Notifier BNG1Rs
-1 Notifier BG-12 in the theatre

Daycare parts:
-EST Integritys (That flash every 30s or so, no matter what?)
-BNG-1Rs
-1 Wheelock NS

That’s about it. I think the whole building has System Sensor i3s. I’ve never seen the panel.

My high school has a Notifier Adressable system that was installed in 1999.
Horns:
Gentex SHG found in all pre-1999 parts of the building
Wheelock AS in the 1999 addition
Simplex 4040 in the gym and locker rooms (not sure if they are still connected)
System Sensor MASS in new locker room
Wheelock RSS in 1999 classrooms and hallways

Pulls:
Notifier BG-12LX in 1999 additions
Notifier BG-10 in pre-1999 parts

Smokes:
System Sensor 2000
System Sensor i3
Chemetronics Heat Detectors in Fallout Shelter
Old Simplex heat detectors in Gym and locker rooms

My elementary/middle school (K-8 school) had a pretty interesting Simplex System
Horns:
TrueAlerts in classrooms and hallways
Simplex 2901-9845 on 9105 strobe plates in 1994 addition
Wheelock NS in old gym
Wheelock EHS-DL1 in Art Room

Pulls:
Simplex T-Bar pull stations throughout building.
Edwards 270-SPO in small gym and old hallway
Faraday 5024HB pull stations in older hallway
Notifier BG-12 replacing faraday station

Smokes:
Simplex TrueAlarm
Older style simplex smoke detectors

Panels:
Simplex 4002 in 1994 addition
Simplex 4010
Simplex ID-net NAC extender
Annunciator for 4010

Sprinkler System:
Potter 8 inch Bell for water flow
Potter strobe (wasn’t going off during fire drills so I assume it is also for water flow)

The high school I went to – BIG UPDATE…

The entire Gamewell system got ripped out and replaced with an EST3 over christmas break. All the pulls, smokes, heats, panel, and annunciator got replaced. They kept the signals, however. (Wheelock MT)

…and he breaks the silence!

We can assume the devices are 278Bs and Genesis-es, correct? Did you get to keep any old alarms?

Re-read…

Also no, it happened totally by surprise and I didn’t know until it was too late.

Maybe the old Gamewell system stopped working, and the school wanted a change? Like that middle school I mentioned replacing its somewhat-recent Simplex system with a new Notifier system.

Maybe now the alarm signals are on Code-3 instead of continuous!

What’s this supposed to mean?

I said that they kept the MTs and you thought they put in Genesis signals, that’s all. lol.

LOL, sorry. I thought you were goofing on my spelling of Genesis-es [Mega Drives] . 8)

Ah, an AVGN fan. And yes, I refer to multiple Genesis signals as Mega Drives too.

Genesies (Jenna-Sees)

I am taking an electrical course at the college in my city, and this semester we are in the wiring labs. It is a very interesting lab, it has two storeys of cubicles, where you wire up systems for a house. The cubicles also have fire alarm systems! I hope we get to work with those soon!

Since there are 2 floors, there are 2 systems. The ground floor has a notifier system, with system sensor horn/strobes, and Honeywell T-Bars. On the upper floor, there is a Simplex 4100U system (not powered), with Simplex pulls and Wheelock MTs. There are also mini horns in each of the cubicles too. There is also some panels that are just lying around the lab, such as a Simplex 4602, 2 Edwards 2280s and 2 Simplex 4005s. There is also some spare alarm parts in the storage room, with some old fire alarms from the previous system the college had (A multi system, with many different panels tied together). Now the system is a Huge Notifier ONYX system, with Notifier ONYX NFS-3030 panels tied together (I’m assuming). The alarms are all System sensor speaker & speaker/strobes.

My Middle school has Simplex 4903-9219’s in Red and white for the horns and they are on code 3.
And the pulls are Simplex 4099-9001’s with stopper 2’s.

There is a Motel 6 by where I drive to school. It has a somewhat interesting Simlex system with 2901-9333s with Simplex BG50s under them. On the ground floor they have Notifier BG12s. Inside they have some kind of horn that I am completely unable to tell what it is. All I can say is its white colored and put into the wall ( no indication on any visual signals on or near it ).

Preschool:
Alarm: Wheelock AS in continuous
Pull: simplex 4251-20 T-Bar
Bell: none
Smoke Detector: don’t remember

Elementary:
Alarm: EST Genesis in code 3
Pull: EST 270-SPO
Bell: Clock tune over PA, but there were Stromberg 6" bells that they never used (I’ve been after those bells but haven’t found them yet) also in the new wing, there is a Simplex 2901-9067 tan 6" bell that is never used either.
Smoke detector: EST SIGA-PS photoelectric

Middle:
Alarm: Gentex Commander3 in Horn: code 3, Lo Volume
Pull: Radionics T-Bar
Bell: W.L. Jenkins 6" bells (never used, so none I guess)
Smoke Detector: Radionics model unknown

Music Building (Middle):
Alarm: Wheelock AS
Pull: Faraday Chevron
Bell: Autocall 6" bells
Smoke detector: none

Auditorium & Auditorium building (middle):
Alarm: Gentex Commander3 in Horn: Code 3, Lo Volume
Pull: Bosch T-Bar
Bell: Federal Signal/Vibratone 6" bell
Smoke detector: Bosch unknown model

I’ve gone through a variety of alarms and still there are more to come!

First Elementary School:
Alarm: Simplex 4906-9127 and 4906-9101 in code 3
Pull: 4099-9001 (Classrooms), 4099-9003 (Labs, Library, Main Office, Cafeteria)
Smoke detector: Simplex Photoelectric (4098-9714)

Second Elementary School:
Pull: ONLY ONE Fire-Lite BG-10
(Had a patched together system, multiple panels; each one would trigger each other. Talking with the alarm tech to see what is there officially.)

Middle:
Alarm: Gentex Commander 3: Code 3 Horn
Pull: No Pull Stations Installed
Smoke Detector: Various

High School:
Alarm: Wheelock RSS Horn-Strobes, and Remote Strobes
Pull: Honeywell BG-12LZ
Smoke detector: EST 3 Heat, Photoelectric, and Beam Detectors

I also for to say the outside horns are Wheelock MTWP-75-FR and the panel is a Simplex 4100

I will go for this.

Preschool:
Wheelock MIZ-24W
EST 270A-SPO.

My K-8 School:
Wheelock Exceder Horn-only
Gamewell-Apollo Smoke Detector.
Fire-Lite (Honeywell) BG-12.

As I am currently in Grade 7 and 13 year’s old. The Exceder replaced the Simplex TrueAlert’s as they were blowing NAC’s up in the Fire-Lite MS-2.

Well, I’ll go ahead and just post what each of my schools had while I was attending.

Lawrence Elementary - Wichita, KS (Attended 2002-2004)

Simplex 2001 FACP
Simplex 4251-20 “T-Bar” Pulls
Simplex 4050 Mechanical Horns in Continuous

And trust me… They scared the crap out of us every time.

Emerson Open Magnet Elementary - Wichita, KS (Attended 2004-2008)

The summer of 2004 is when I believe that the schools all upgraded their systems. The 4050s and the 2001 at Lawrence were replaced with TrueAlerts and an unknown FACP. I believe that the 2001 was replaced with either a 4005 or 4010.

Simplex 4005 FACP
Simplex 2099-9756 Dual-Action “T-Bar” Pulls
Simplex TrueAlert 4903-9425s

Mayberry Cultural and Fine Arts Magnet Middle School - Wichita, KS (Attended 2008-2011)

Simplex 4100U FACP
Simplex 4099-9003 Dual-Action “T-Bar” Pulls
Simplex TrueAlert 4903-9425s
Edwards Adaptahorn (Inactive)

This system replaced a system of Edwards Adaptahorns; a mix of flush mount and standard. The system was originally activated by a switch in the office, and there were only four pulls in the building. I do not recall what they were, or if the system was even on a panel. They were all 120v.

Northeast Magnet High School - Wichita, KS (OLD BUILDING) (Attended 2011-2012)

Simplex 4100U FACP
Simplex 4099-9003 Dual-Action “T-Bar” Pulls
Simplex TrueAlert 4903-9419s

9419s are older TrueAlerts, but they sound pretty much the same. They seem more peaceful to me now that I have gotten used to them. lol

Northeast Magnet High School - Bel Aire, KS (NEW BUILDING) (Attended 2012-2015)

Simplex 4100U FACP W/ Voice Evac booster panel (Gym)
Simplex 4099-9003 Dual-Action “T-Bar” Pulls
Simplex TrueAlert 4906-9130 Horn Strobes (Ceiling mount, White) (Classrooms, Library, Restrooms)
Simplex TrueAlert 4906-9104 Remote Strobes (Ceiling mount, White) (Storage rooms, Restrooms, Serving Area)
Simplex TrueAlert 4906-9129 Horn Strobes (Wall mount, White) (Hallways, Commons)
Simplex TrueAlert 4906-9154 Speaker Strobes (Ceiling mount, White) (Locker Rooms, Locker room entryway)
Simplex TrueAlert 4906-9153 Speaker Strobes (Wall mount, White) (Gymnasium)
Simplex TrueAlert 4906-9143 Weatherproof Horn Strobes (Wall mount, Red) (Pool)

Quite the collection at my school… I would like to see someone top the amount of Simplex I have brought into this… :^):^):^)

Here’s an update to the system at the high school. No pictures, unfortunately.

A few weeks ago, they installed strobe lights in the gym, and in both shops. I have no information on the manufacturer, but here’s a picture of one with a red lens:

Also, the bell in the gym entryway has been replaced with a 10-inch Notifier motor bell.

Now, the biggest news: The Simplex RCU/SCU annunciator in the same area as the Notifier bell has been ripped out. The old trim remains, but the units themselves were removed and black wood was placed over them. A new cabinet has been placed over the top compartment, possibly for a new annunciator. Could this be a sign?
