Hell of a system there, Canadian System?
Is that for a shutter?
Most likely a garage door controller.
Yeah it is a Canadian system, and the open/close controls is for a garage door.
My schools has this, this is a picture of that panel at my school when it was in manual evacuate, this was taken on my new 3ds xl
Ok so I came across this picture of one of the wheelock mt-24s at my school. I made a post about the schools system back in October of 25.
At my middle school we have a Simplex 4010 fire alarm system with 4099-9006 pulls in the halls, 4098-9714 TrueAlarm smoke detectors in the halls and classrooms, 4098-9733 heat detectors in random places (including the art storage room and janitor closet), and all detector are mounted on 4098-9796 bases. Potter waterflow and tamper switches for the sprinkler system, and the notification appliances are 4906-9137 horn strobes and 4904-9331 remote strobes in the bathrooms.
Who takes pictures on a 3DS!!!

Have you heard those Eluxa devices sounding? If not, I think it’s more likely that they are the multi-tone horn/strobes.
I have not, and most likely never will, because I’m only in those units for upwards of two minutes at a time, and only on select days during the week.
\Me! . . . . . . . . . . . . .
i had to have the dots for the min 20 char
i have weelock 7001ts
At my current high school there was originally a simplex 2001 system with multiple Simplex 4040, 4050, and/or 4051 with a dual horn projector, multiple simplex 4251-20?. The system no longer exists as it was replaced with a simplex 4100ES system with multiple simplex 2099 and/or 4099 series pullstations, lots of simplex 49AV-APPLC, and a couple of truealerts. I know the outside system probably originally had bells I think but was replaced with the mini truealert horn with no strobes.
me -_-
dont question
i’ve recorded my security system tests on there!!
update on my middle school, they replaced one 9237 with a truealert most likely a 4903-9426
Unfortunately, he didn’t get it. ![]()
and im bummed about it, but hey fire drill and i get to hear the sweet 9237’s!!
Also another thing is that the cover plate on the old panel back box has a simplex 6100-series masterclock system (I believe it to be a simplex 6100-9002 4-Circuit Program/timer standalone system). Which is the legacy program/timer / masterclock system, which could be a hint what the previous panel was, but I don’t know if the panel is a simplex 2001 or not. I want someone to correct me if I’m wrong.
I was in this building today for an event, and I saw that they’ve installed STI-13020FR/STI-13010FR (depending on whether or not they have horns (I don’t know)) Stoppers. I’m thinking they might be the ones with horns to stop malicious false alarms, as they’ve recently had problems with that at that school, and the Simplex pull stations don’t really have any issues with accidental activations from getting hit (unlike the Siemens ones at my school, which got the Stoppers without horns due to several false alarms from being bumped).
All of those Stoppers I’m talking about are the ones that look like this:
Of course, I forgot to take a picture of one. I did take this picture of several other life safety/electrical devices in a hallway, though:
It’s not a very major change, but it’s always cool to see updates to older systems that are already in place. Other than a couple additions, all of this school’s systems have remained largely unchanged since opening day in 2008. Some of them (especially the intercom system) are starting to show signs of their age, so that may not be true for too long.
Ok so the school I go to now has a Honeywell Fahrenhyt system. Basically a Silent Knight system. 90% of the NAC devices are System Sensor SPSCWL speaker-strobes with a few SPCWL remote-speakers in parts of hallways that don’t need strobes but more sound. The rest of the devices are SCWL remote-strobes which are only found in bathrooms. The system is a voice evac system as you can see. At the entrance, there is a Farenhyt IFP-2100ECS. I am not sure if this is the exact model number but it is basically a combo annunciator and voice evac panel. Plays a firelite tone or smth in both English and Spanish. I don’t know what the actual panel is bc it is locked in the FACP room and I don’t wanna trespass. NO PULL STATIONS AT ALL! Only modern honeywell addressable smoke detectors. I will try get pics of some of the system components. I live in Texas, so it is hard to use my phone at school due to phone law. I cannot take pics of certain areas because I usually have access to them during school hours, and I cannot use my phone at those times.
Oh boy. I hope that doesn’t cause too many issues in the future. Almost anything would have been better (other than maybe getting locked into JCI’s service with Simplex). Personally, I would have gone with Potter. I’m sure it does the job fine for now, but I’m not sure how long that will continue to be true with Honeywell’s recent quality (especially on Silent Knight).
I’ve been noticing a trend recently towards more white devices, and especially more ceiling mounted devices. In most cases, I’m a fan of that trend. As far as the remote speakers and remote strobes, I find the remote speakers interesting. Up until the last decade or so, my area mostly followed the philosophy of putting horn/strobes or speaker/strobes anywhere where an audible device was required. If some place needed an audible device but not a strobe, it still likely got a strobe. If some place did not need an audible device, it almost never got a visual device, even if there were no visual devices in sight (except for in restrooms for some reason). Nowadays, they seem to still do the same thing, where they install strobes at each audible device location, regardless of whether or not they are really necessary, but they also install remote strobes in other areas where they are required. A good example is my school, which opened in 2024. They have speaker/strobes all over the place, including multiple close together in some rooms. There are no remote speakers on the system, but a few storage rooms, and small group workrooms do have remote strobes instead of speaker/strobes. My school does have speaker/strobes in the restrooms.
Yep. That’s good. Most states now require all educational facilities to have full voice systems. I know mine does.
That’s pretty cool. I’ve never heard a bilingual voice system in my area. It could be good at my school, as there are some students who are native Spanish speakers, and are still learning English. They are in an “English as a Second Language” class that we have. It’s always best to ensure that everyone can fully understand the message in an emergency situation. Confusion and misinformation are some of the worst possible things in emergencies.
My area doesn’t require pull stations in buildings anymore, either (other than the one that is required in an approved location). Interestingly, my school district still opted it install pull stations in its most recent buildings, although the neighboring school district has been removing them, and their schools back to the 2010s don’t have them. My school also has an ABSURD amount of smoke detectors (likely over 1,000). Although it’s a big building, it’s not that crazy of a size that would typically warrant that number of detectors. A similar crazy level of coverage can be seen in almost all of the schools (and many other buildings) in my area, although the code doesn’t require anything out of the ordinary.
We have similar laws here in ND. It’s pretty annoying. We do have school owned devices (iPads in my district), but my district’s policy is that any photos, videos, and audio recordings taken on the property during school hours are the property of the school, and must only be shared with consent from the subject(s) of the photos/recordings, and the school’s staff.
