What alarm do you have at work/school

This became a trend for newly built schools in my district.

any photos, videos, and audio recordings taken on the property during school hours are the property of the school, and must only be shared with consent from the subject(s) of the photos/recordings, and the school’s staff.

That’s weird. Never heard of this rule.

I doubt it’s legally enforceable, but I’m not about to go testing that.

It’s Just A 2901-9838

I have a new place of work and I am a lifeguard. I’m not going to name names though but I can give a general idea. It is a year-round, 45,000+ sq ft indoor water park with 3 slides, a lazy river, etc. I don’t know the model of the panel but here’s about what I know

NA’s: Simplex 4906-9251’s in the waterpark area

In the hotel area System Sensor P2WL’s, Simplex 4903-9150 Strobe with Speakers

IA’s: Simplex 4098-9714 TrueAlarm detectors throughout, T-bars

Waterpark seems to be built in a 2000s and looks pretty old, built in the 70s-80s

P2WLs combined with speakers? Or are they SWL/SPSWLs?

My school has Simplex TrueAlert horn strobes and TrueAlert remote strobes inside the main building (plus one outside the building), a TrueAlert remote horn on the back of the gym building, which has Simplex 4903-9219 horn strobes, same for the inside of the band building, with the outside having a Wheelock MT remote horn on the right side, Wheelock MT horn strobes on the front and back, and a Wheelock NS on the left side.

The school I work at was built with/ Simplex system, the last building that was built w/ Simplex was in the late 90’s, as first buildings built w/ Wheelock devices were finished in the late 90’s/early 2000’s, as the entire district switched from using Simplex systems and devices to Wheelock/Notifier. School now uses a Gamewell panel, with some original original Simplex strobes, horns, and pulls that haven’t been replaced in prior remodels tied into new system. Based on new System Sensor L-Series Voice Evac System being installed in new Aquatics Center, and building renovations set to start over summer in a couple buildings, I have a suspicion notification devices across the entire campus could be poised to be replaced with System Sensor Voice Evac devices. All of the campus with the current system is set to continuous with the exception of some of the buildings retrofitted with Wheelock Exceeders and the new Aquatics Center with voice evac.

So these are the systems on my college campus. Everything is addressable Notifier, but pretty much each building has a different setup in it. You can definitekly tell what was from what era of the campus as many systems are similar. I’m not sure exactly what the panels are in each building as they’re not visible (except for a small few), some are obvious and most aren’t so if I don’t know what the panel is I’ll either say ONYX series or AFP series correlating with what I believe the panel is. First will be general buildings, followed by academic/instructional buildings, and then residence halls. Buildings that I have not been in will not be included.

I was driving by this building today, and I saw the Johnson Controls car in the parking lot. They must’ve been doing their summer inspections.

Hospital #1 (location undisclosed) - I was promoted a little over a month ago at a company I work for, and part of my new job involves traveling to various sites throughout the network. In the interest of privacy, I have gone through and deleted past posts. Starting from here, I will be revising my past locations since I have learned new information about each place’s system over time, in addition to posting new locations.

Annunciators/panels:

<At least one Simplex 4120 unit, but there are other Simplex panels located throughout the hospital given its size, most likely a mix of 2120s and 4100s.

Detectors:

<A mix of Simplex 4098 series (TrueAlarm) photoelectric units throughout the building, including 4098-9784 units and 2908-9201 units, the latter of which can be found in older parts.

<Gentex 9003 series photoelectric detectors in elevator areas.

Pull stations:

<A mix of Simplex 2099 series t-bars throughout the building and spanning several years as they replaced older units or were added to building expansions.

<One Simplex 4251-21L t-bar left over from an older system!

Notification appliances:

<Simplex 4903 and 4906 series (TrueAlert; red and white) speaker/strobes and strobes throughout the building.

<Simplex 4906-9204 strobes.

<Simplex 4903 series horizontal speaker/strobes in older sections.

<Simplex LifeAlarm speakers on 4903-9105 strobe plates in older sections.

<Simplex 4903 series speakers on 4903-9105 strobe plates in older sections.

<One Wheelock MT-24MCW-FR horn/strobe outside a basement room with a fire suppression system.

<One Wheelock ET90 series speaker/strobe in a dining area.

<At least one Veeder-Root overfill alarm outside.

Clinic #1 (location undisclosed)

Annunciators/panels:

<One Honeywell S3 series unit.

Detectors:

<Apollo optical smoke detectors (model unknown) throughout the building.

<Gentex 9000/9003 series photoelectric units in elevator areas.

Pull stations:

<Gamewell M46 series (Century) pull stations behind STI Stopper II covers throughout the building.

Notification appliances:

<Wheelock AS horn/strobes throughout the building.

<Wheelock RSS strobes throughout the building.

Administration Building #1 (location undisclosed) - The units described below are no longer intact since this building was remodeled and repurposed for another use.

Annunciators/panels:

<The original panel was most likely an Autocall unit judging by the surviving devices. It wasn’t known if the unit was still intact.

<The last panel in service was an ADT Unimode unit (model unknown).

Detectors:

<ADT-branded SK-Heat series heat detectors throughout the building.

<Gentex 9000/9003 series photoelectric units in elevator areas.

<ADT beam detectors in large storage rooms (model unknown).

Pull stations:

<The original devices were most likely Autocall Type FNC units; the mounting boxes were left over albeit unused, and there was a surviving pull station near the main entrance, but it was painted over and presumably disconnected.

<The last devices in service were ADT-branded NBG-12LX units throughout the building.

Notification appliances:

<The original signals were Autocall 123-S horns along with rebranded Faraday 128-U horns; most of these were left intact albeit disconnected and painted over when the next system was installed.

<In a garage near the main entrance, there was a 6" bell next to an 8-10" bell, the latter of which had a metal guard around the gong. There was also a painted-over 12-15" bell near those two bells; the models of all three were unknown, but were presumably Autocall units.

<The last operating signals prior to the remodeling were SpectrAlert Advance horn/strobes and strobes (wall and ceiling-mount) throughout the building, plus one weatherproof Advance horn/strobe outside.

Other:

<Edwards 340 Adaptabels used as doorbells for the large storage rooms.

<One Edwards 740 bell used as a doorbell near the main entrance.

<Older Alarm Lock 11A exit alarms used at fire exits.

Hospital #2 (location undisclosed)

Annunciators/panels:

<The first system installed here was a National Time & Signal Corporation (Natsco) model, likely in the 2000 or early 7000 series.

<After expansions, the Natsco system was replaced by a Cerberus Pyrotronics system, consisting of at least two MXL units scattered throughout the building. Both still exist albeit decommissioned, but at least one may be used for a branded power extender box in the current system below.

<After more expansions, the current system consists of a Simplex 4007ES/Foundation series unit (likely set to temporal) in the parking garage plus Simplex 4100ES and 4100U units. The 4100U and 4100ES units are tied into the public address system; for normal announcements, they occasionally start with a brief 500hz tone, then a chime tone, then the formal announcement. When in alarm, a “Code Red” message plays thrice followed by the chime tone coded to temporal until the system is audibly silenced.

Detectors:

<It isn’t known what the previous two systems used for detectors.

<The current system uses Simplex 4098 series (TrueAlarm) units along with Notifier FSP-200 beam detectors.

Pull stations:

<The original system likely used Natsco Type 641 units judging by metal plates where they used to be.

<The Cerberus Pyrotronics system likely used MS series units to replace the 641s; none of these exist anymore.

<The current Simplex system uses 2099-9754 t-bars along with 2099-9799 t-bars, the latter of which have missing glass in some places! The parking garage uses 4099 series t-bars.

Notification appliances:

<The original Natsco system still has recessed grilles intact with the mounts for the old devices, but the devices themselves are long gone. Presumably, they were bells, chimes or horns.

<The Cerberus Pyrotronics system likely had horn/strobes or speaker/strobes, but they’re all long gone.

<The current Simplex system consists of 4096 series (TrueAlert) speaker/strobes and strobes (red and white, wall and ceiling-mount) in the main building with TrueAlert ES horn/strobes in the parking garage. Outside, there is a Potter 6" bell for the sprinkler system and a Wheelock AS horn/strobe near it.

Other:

<Two units contain Amseco Select-A-Horn/strobes (SL24C; white with amber strobe) paired with Wheelock Exula low-frequency horn/strobes (white with blue LED), the latter of which have Securitas Healthcare modules.

This is from an already existing post. I’m just putting this here separately for my linking and quoting purposes.

As I was walking up to the front door of my school today, I could hear a beeping sound. Once I walked in the door, I realized it was the annunciator, and the system was in trouble. At the same time I passed by the annunciator, one of the assistant principals walked over and acknowledged it. I’m not sure what caused it, but it was gone within a few hours, and they are fixing a few things around the building, so it was probably related to that.
