Where to Get products

i was just wondering i any of you know where to get a panel, pull station, horns, or stobes

The best place to get new and used fire alarm equipment at good prices is on eBay. A good place to start would be our http://store.thefirepanel.com Verified Resellers store.

http://www.homesecuritystore.com/ - best prices
http://www.tclifesafety.com/ - best selection

I have bought from both, and am very satisfied.

I also recommend checking eBay first.

I’ve been to both sites and it looks very good but my only complaint is that there aren’t any electromechanical horns.

LOL, I don’t think you will find those on fire alarm sales sites anymore, unless it is something like eBay.

So then that site has only newer alarms for sale then? That would explain it.

Yes, they both do. Although, the TCLifeSafety one has a few older alarms sill left in stock, but I think it is mostly detectors and accessories.

I also sometimes recommend poking around thrift stores, or Storage Garages for Auction. Who knows? I found my BG 12 at a thrift store 8)

I found a Wheelock MIZ in a thrift store, was the first horn I ever owned, until I fried it!

How did you fry it?

I accidently hooked up 120V to it… it fried, smoked, and died. After that, I always check my wiring/voltage output twice before setting an alarm off.

Oh… ouch!

I usually get my stuff either from eBay or from actual renovations/upgrades. I got some good stuff from my college from their fire alarm upgrades (I am happy that I now have a Space Age VA4 horn/strobe in my collection thanks to them replacing them in several of the buildings.)

It never hurts to ask! You guys can even ask around to local alarm companies to. If you see a guy working somewhere, feel free to ask him if he has anything old sitting around in his truck. You might get lucky and get something really good out of it!

Ive been doing that for the last 3 years! :stuck_out_tongue: ( I got two wheelock AS’s by doing that)

It sounds like it is a very easy way to get alarms without paying for them. If I ever did collect alarms, I might try doing it.

It isn’t always THAT easy. I tried when they removed the Simplex system at the local middle school and no luck. So that meant I had to resort to buying the same devices off eBay, and bye-bye paycheck!
Other times, they will just throw away old alarms and devices, even if they are in perfectly-functional condition.

Excuse me? You have been given alarms that you have turned around and sold. So please do not try and deter a little kid from trying to start a collection by trying to convince them otherwise…

Removed alarms are trash. There is nothing wrong with asking for them, chances are if the guy is nice enough, it’s yours.

I tried doing the same thing, same company (Simplex) and they told me and I quote, It goes back to our warehouse to get refurbished.

Besides the kid who is fire alarm less, that is good that they are refurbishing, instead of trashing.
