Not to mention not right outside it, there is an alarm on the wall so it does seem like overkill. And I know how loud they are based on weatherdan’s videos. Would not wanna be in there if something happened.
What was the alarm? The concession stand outside of my elementary school for softball (which was built in 2000) doesn’t have any notification device in it.
NewAgeServerAlarm said that his elementary school and middle school had -9219s in the bathroom. Don’t know why that would be because if I remember from the video, at least outside of the middle school bathroom, there was a -9237.
I think it was a Siemens U-HN-S17-W. That’s not the type of alarm that the high school had, which was Simplex 2901-9838 horn/strobes with Simplex remote strobes in the bathrooms.
My college campus (BYU) has horn/strobes in a majority of the public bathrooms, including three in the shared bathroom in my dorm for the half of the floor that I live on (SpectrAlert Advances). There’s even horn/strobes in the small instrument practice rooms in the basement. Seems like a bit overkill if you’d ask me, but I’m no expert on the system requirements in Utah so you probably shouldn’t be asking me.
Buildings in my area that have speaker/strobes tend to have speaker/strobes in the bathrooms (except for the small one person bathrooms which have remote strobes). I guess it is done so the voice can be clearly heard inside the restroom.
When my college ripped out the 4051s+4050-85s in 2011 to replaced them with SpectrAlert Advanced speakers  , they placed speakers in the bathroom. I have only heard them go off twice though. Since all the classrooms even the ones that didn’t have 4051s in them have them.
One of my elementary schools originally had no NAs in the classrooms or bathrooms, just in the hallways (Wheelock 7002s). They replaced the system and installed loud horn/strobes in the classrooms (Not sure what model of alarm). I got irritated by this. They just had to install loud horns in every single classroom when you could quite clearly hear the horns from outside in the hallway.
