On last night’s episode of Chuck, there was a screenshot of some type of Simplex addressable panel in the background, as they’re walking down a hotel hallway. It’s about 50 minutes into the show.
In the Simpsons episode “Homerazzi”, Homer can’t blow the candles out on his birthday cake. He finally faints, the little “puff” at the top of his hat falls into the candle flame. The camera zooms up to a System Sensor 2100 and does a beep-beep-beep… beep-beep-beep (like an alarm clock).
FRESH OFF LETTERMAN:
Apparently, a fire broke out in the basement of the Ed Sullivan Theatre this morning, and the FD was there, fire alarms were activated, building was evacuated, and no one was hurt.
He joked about several causes: 1: CBS started it to get insurance $$$, 2: was burned down by an angry audience, and 3: when dave was showing pictures someone took of the event, they took a picture of some guy, and Dave joked that he started the fire. He also joked about the alarm: “And there’s nothing more annoying than that ‘WAHHH WAHHH WAHHH WAHHH WAHHH WAHHH WAHHH WAHHH WAHHH!’ And then they turn on the fire alarm!”
And not only that, tonight’s Top 10 List was made on the moment: “Top 10 Things Overheard at The Late Show Fire”!
Hopefully, this’ll ALL manage to get online somehow, and I’ll post it here when I see it online!
Here’s the Top 10:
There’s vid on the right, which include the show opening, where dave made most of the jokes (not counting the Top 10 List). There’s also this:
It’s the show summary. The picture that you see at the top was one of the pics that Dave was showing everyone, and when the recap mentions the fire, it says the actual cause was something w/ the A/C system.
iCarly: Spencer burns the stir fry and a Wheelock signal does slow whoop.
This Wednesday at 10:00PM Pacific Time there was a show called Storm Chasers on the Discovery Channel. One of the alert sounds for a tornado sounded like a Simplex 4050 doing little short blasts.
Simplex Fan, you need to resize your avatar majorly.
On Zoey 101, there is a fire drill with Slow Whoop and red police lights as strobes.
you watch that show^? haha
Nothing wrong w/ that. I watch it too. One time when one of the girls accidentally knocked over chemicals when she was trying to creat a new germ, she had to call hazmat (or some similiar company), and they told her to get everyone out of the building except for themselves. So, she goes into the hall, pulls the Edwards classic pull station, and slow whoop goes off, and she starts screaming, “GET OUT!!! EVERYBODY OUT!!!”. No strobes (or any visual notification appliances) were seen though.
No, but my sister does. I only watched the fire drill part.
On NCIS tonight, towards the end, one of the agents pulled the fire alarm in what looked like a parking garage. He pulls a Radionics hex-reset T-Handle, activating red strobe lights (this was in the US) and horns that sounded like 9833’s, coded to Slow march time.
This week, on Dirty Jobs (the 150th extravaganza,) right before the cave digging machine switches on, you can hear the first two beeps of an MT in code 3 tone.
I’m watching a SWAT marathon on A&E, since Dog the Bounty Hunter has been pulled from the lineup. The first ep had a mission called “Operation: Smoke Alarm”, where they did a drug raid. Unfortunately, no alarms were seen or heard. However, the first mission in the second ep, after the flashbang goes off, interconnected smokes go off in Code 3.
Our news did a segment on voting and showed our HS gym where you could see one of the Simplex pulls and the 9838+strobe behind what looked like the 4905-9927 guard.
It’s online too.

I think I saw an Integrity!
On the Simpsons this week, in the episode where Abe (Grandpa) Simpson tries to take care of Patty’s (or Selma’s) house, he ends up putting pancake mix in a CD player and that sets off a DSC smoke detector model 220/AMS220T, It sounds a strange code, BEEBEEP…BEEBEEP like an alarm clock sorta, but then the CD catches on fire, setting off the 135˚F heat sensor on that smoke detector, activating the fire alarm panel, and setting off an Ademco 747 siren in warble mode.
The news tonight: CBS EVENING NEWS
They were doing a report on ADHD and that it may be possble to grow out of it, and they did a shot of a high school with students passing from class to class, then a shot of a FIRE DRILL!
The alarm sounded like an electromechanical 4903 or a 2901-9833.
I’ll see if they have the video tomorrow- they don’t right now.
I watched that show before…I’ve seen an Edwards 4" bell,And An Edwards Classic Pull.I’ve never seen Wheelock Mt’s on the show.
