Fire Alarm Dreams/Fantasies...

Strange…

I dreamed I was at my elementary school. I walked to the front door and noticed a trouble on the annunciator, which looked like this:

The principal (who in real life is a wiz at fire alarms) told me to check it out. I pulled the t-bar, but the Simplex GX-90s went off in pulse instead of continuous, (continuous is what it’s set on in real life). To silence the alarm, I had to climb onto a ledge in the wall (strange) and operate the system using a panel that almost looked like a car radio console (not an annunciator). I pressed ACK, and then RESET. 3 seconds after, it went off again. The final thing I remember before waking up was trying to figure out how to change the alarm coding back to continuous.

2 Different Ones That I’ve Had:

  1. At my school - the got rid of most/all of the GOSs/SHGs/and Commanders and replaced them with SpecterAlert Classics ( :?: ) and Simplex TrueAlerts. I think that I also remember seeing a white RSS or ZNS, but it was a while ago, so I can’t say for sure.

  2. Also at my school - they replaced the annunciator with a newer, different one mounted lower on the wall and across the hall from where the annunciator was. There was an iPhone app that came with the panel that allowed you to silence, reset, etc. and also do fire drills. I got to set off the alarms for a fire drill via this app in my dream. By the end of the dream, I think that the newly installed annunciator had been replaced again. It would be interesting if panels had an app like they did in my dream in real life.

Last night: A school, with ceiling-mounted Vibratone 450D that had a -9838 sound. Most had a C4 (Middle-C) pitch, while others had Bb3. Here’s a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZuiA_nytOg&list=PLD599172DFE2979FF&index=101&feature=plpp_video video to give you an idea of the pitches I’m talking about. Some of the alarms had the Vibratone grille at a 45° angle, like

Another 2
1:
It was at a sort of mall. The alarms were mainly 9806s on the -9401 light plates, but there was a couple of -9219s and a -9236.
All the alarms were going off in March Time, but in an area where several restaurants are:

the alarms (each red rectangle) were not working very well, sounding every 10th pulse or so.

2:
It was a store that had an LED Genesis. Looked like a regular Genesis but the strobe was on top and shaped like the LED Exceder’s.

One I’ve neglected to post:
It was at a horse racetrack. It had a Simplex system with ceiling-mount TrueAlert 4903-9196 speaker/strobes with the strobes set to Free-Run mode. It sounded in the 500 Hz. Code-3 and played an announcement customized for the racetrack. There was no one there, so it was likely an inspectional test.

Last night:
I must have been reading my copy of the Dunes test report book too much, for it was a smoke alarm test. There were 4 alarms mounted at the top of a stairwell, 2 AC and 2 DC. 1 AC had a 120Hz buzzer, the other had the normal 60Hz one. The 2 battery models had the electromechanical squealer horns.

I had an odd one last night where I was taking a tour of a local school that was demolished several years ago. In the dream, I was somehow aware that the school was no longer there, yet I was in it anyway (time travel perhaps?). Now, in real life, the school had an Edwards system with 892 horns before it was demolished, yet in my dream that was only the case for part of the school. In the dream, one wing of it had System Sensor MASS horns (the older kind with the bigger bolder font). Another wing had Simplex components including some type of horn on a 2903 plate, and a strange TrueAlert that was as tall as the speaker/strobe version but had a smaller grille like the regular horn/strobes (and the strobe appeared to be slightly to the right of the grille).

Really strange how my brain can work when I’m asleep.

I started dreaming about 4051s which is one of the reasons why I came back here. It also got me back into fire alarms. Too bad there aren’t that many YT videos of systems with 4051s.

Last night: I was outside of a building and heard an outdoor alarm siren, and when the fire department and I went in, we heard Genesis High-Output horn/strobes sounding in Temporal 3. As we entered, the alarms became distant; the part of the building we entered had just been silenced, leaving another area sounding. As we walked down to the area that was still sounding, I saw the alarm, which basically looked like a Genesis on the 1-gang to 4" Trim plate slapped on to a SpectrAlert classic Speaker/Strobe’s strobe plate (basically think speaker removed, and the Genesis put in its place). As we approached an area where the hall spread out, there was an annunciator sounding, high up on the wall. I even thought of how I’d post it here.

I just had a nightmare where all varied pitch horns were replaced by boring no pitched horns.

one night, i had a dream it started raining est integritys. i also had one where there were walking fire alarms.

I had a dream that i sold my collection…

To me, that’s a nightmare considering what happened to the GX-90 I let go to a fellow collector. That was a bad day…

Ok… what happened? Please explain.

I’m not going to name the person but I was on a Google+ Hangout with him and then he decided that he would shove 45 volts through a 24 volt strobe. It still worked afterwards. He then proceeded to open the strobe casing and in the end, it was GX-90 strobe VS. Mister Hammer. If you know who that GX-90 went to, you’ll know that it didn’t have much of a chance…

You don’t have fire drills either? Why?

lol, I hope you meant 15cd, and not 1cd. That would be like a 7002-T.

I think that some places don’t have fire drills for some reason. I have no idea why. My sisters both said that the Catholic Junior High School they went to (Woodlawn Catholic Regional) had no fire drills.

Some states require them (but some schools don’t comply).

http://maps.thefullwiki.org/List_of_fire_drill_regulations_for_schools_in_the_United_States Click here to learn about your state’s requirements with fire drills at schools.

The schools that I went to didn’t comply with most of the statute. Yes they did do 15 fire drills, but none of them were blocked.

Last night: I went into a building with an EM horn in a hallway, but it was gradually decreasing in pitch, as if the panel was running on battery power and they were running out of voltage. Anyways, I took a stairway downstairs and ended up in a hospital. Outside of every room, on the ceiling, was a TrueAlert remote light. Yes, that wasn’t a typo, they were lights. They looked like the TrueAlert strobes, but the strobe lens had texturing like the 9101’s, and there was a single light in the middle. Some were lit, and according to a nurse, they were to indicate patients that had a nasty flu bug. There was also a 900 Hz pulsating bell tone.

I had two dreams for the last few nights. The first dream was more of a nightmare, as I went back to my elementary school and found out that all the signals (9219s, 9838s, SHG, AS) were replaced by ceiling Spectra speakers.

And the most recent was me going to a high school that had horn-only 9806s and one grey Simplex 4040 horn but it was more of a Spring Break thing since the school was built around a swimming pool which I was in.
